She played it a demo on Instagram Live in 2018, most of the songs played eventually made it onto Hot Pink. This is the one I'm most unsure about, because P2J and Ari PenSmith didn't really have any big records sent and placed on US records until Goldlink's project released near the Lion King project. I simply assumed something this glossy came from The Gift writing camp where they ended up placing 6 tracks. You're probably right though when looking at the timeline as well as the speed in which Beyoncé's album came to be.

Does this also count towards the thread? https://www.expressen.se/noje/loreens-beyonce-diss-da-fick-de-ett-fett-nej/ Added! Also added "Won't Be Late" by Swae Lee, Drake & Tekno into the "possibly" category. Sounds like a possible "The Gift" submission that didn't make it.

Sorry to both of you. Hehe it's okay, I love your thread! I like to imagine the songs being sung by the artists they were supposed to be for

FightDragonsWithMe Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 This thread has me listening to BC Jean and being strangely nostalgic for her i respect Beyoncés way of making every song unapologetically hers tho
KillingYourCareer Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Very interesting list! All About That Bass
naval23 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 If only Bey took LOTB she would've hopefully given it a MV at least Kelly's Miss Independent is the most shocking one to me
Jeremiah Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Cute thread. I actually have something similar worked on with Britney, but got so many songs with official source pending. That's how I know too that "Flaws and All" was meant for Britney before Beyoncé. I finally found confirmation by Ne-Yo last year. (1:27:00) And just to mention, "All About That Bass" is true but to an extent. Meghan said she was told they would be pitching the song to all these artists but doesn't know if it really happened or how far the song made it to artists' camp. (2:47)
trainsskyscrapers Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 I told you guys I would keep updating this list with new intel as I received it, and the new one for today is Destiny's Child 2001 smash "Survivor". As mentioned by producer Anthony Dent in a Q&A session, the beat was actually made for another Queen Bee.... Lil' Kim. He made something "aggressive" and envisioned Kim, but I'm not sure if he even pitched it to her, if something fell through on that end, or if him playing it at this B session was a mistake.

I hope your thread comes to fruition one day because so many people are under the misconception that Britney was not the Rihanna or B of her day where people made tracks specifically for her, she had first pick from the writing camp/CD of beats, and then songs were shopped around the industry if her team turned them down. Only a few girls who accept songs from others in the music industry have that "first pick" power: Whitney (80s), Janet, Mariah (90s), Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, Adele. (2:47) Not an insider by any means, but I think it had a pretty good chance of getting to her team at least. At the time (based on Billboard & NME articles), B was compiling tracks for a throwback-themed album that was going to pay homage to "Doowop, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, D'Angelo, 90s R&B, and Prince". Cross-referencing the teams involved in the articles, tracks that were spoken about, and the songs we know that were in contention (coupled with a few ??? ones), I have a feeling the album submissions looked something like this in late 2012 / early 2013 (not including the Hamptons sessions that added a whole bunch of "international, anthemic songs" (Pretty Hurts, XO, Footprints, Standing On The Sun, Rise Up, Jealous, God Made You Beautiful), the NYC sessions at Oven/Jungle City Studios that were more "urban-based" alongside Jay-Z & Justin Timberlake making their own albums in the same space (DIL, Grown Woman, YONCE, Mine, Flawless, Partition), and Chairlift/Boots coming in with darker, left-field sounds): "Wake Up" (Pharrell, The-Dream) - Doowop/Diana Ross "Superpower" (Frank Ocean, Pharrell) - Doowop/Aretha* "All About That Bass" (Meghan Trainor, Kevin Kadish) - Doowop "Love On The Brain" (Fred Ball, Joseph Angel) - Aretha "Rocket" (Miguel, JT, Timbaland, James Fauntleroy) - D'Angelo/90s R&B* (I think she spliced additional registered track "Free Fall" here) "Blow" (Pharrell, Timbaland, The-Dream, James Fauntleroy) - Prince* (I think she spliced additional registered track "Cherry" here for the bridge) "Donk" (The-Dream, Pharrell) - 90s R&B (A snippet leaked but unreleased) "Part II (On The Run)" (Timbaland, James Fauntleroy) - 90s R&B *(Made the completed album) Edited January 19, 2023 by trainsskyscrapers

Maybe I should just go ahead and post the ones pending aside so others could help me compile the receipts/sources. Btw, I know she was a feature, but you're missing "Telephone," again first meant for Britney.

I love hearing stuff like this, especially how some of her biggest pop hits were meant for hip-hop artists...it really shows the bridge between her and hip-hop that was happening at the time...like how Jumpin' Jumpin' was mistakenly sent to Bey, she wrote a whole song for it and then sent it to the producer who was like "wait no this was not meant for you this was for a rapper!" and then had no choice but to let her have the beat because she did such a good job on it. 1
swissman Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Wasn't Usher's My Boo originally offered to Beyoncé?

Just did a little research and the demo was recorded by Usher and a female singer named Kortney Kaycee Leveringston who seemingly put on her best Beyoncé impression. For that reason, I'm definitely putting this theory in the "plausible theory" bucket, especially with him appearing in the Naughty Girl video and her appearing on his tour. trainsskyscrapers Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 (edited) Hey y'all. Just watched a Rico Love video about the making of "Sweet Dreams" and found another record that B turned down made in the same Miami session: "Paint This House" that ended up on Brandy's "Two Eleven".
