In my country, SZA has both the #1 song and #1 album for the last week. She charts in the Top 40 quite often and has platinum album and song certifications, so people hear about here plenty of times outside of awards season. My point was H.E.R has the #1 streamed Female R&B song globally since 2017, so by your logic SZA has no hit songs as a lead artist It's clear "no one hears" till award season isnt based in reality

So you should clarify what you mean. For me well know song is something very popular in every format and for every kind of listeners, not only a niche or something like that. Everyone knows a Beyoncè, Madonna and so on song. If a lot people says I don't know an H.E.R song maybe she really doesn't have WELL know songs for every kind of listeners. Please tell me about multi-platinum global hit.

So it has the most streams WW, but it's "local" compared to the other songs there Make it make sense The song is huge in US, Canada, South Africa, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand

Many countries issue certificates automatically, although I don't know how it works in South Africa, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

So if that's the bar we're using for "hit", then the OP's question covers nearly every artist ever Edited January 10, 2023 by PoisonPill
Alex Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I would say it's kind of remarkable in it's own way to be a semi-relevant artist and have no actual hits i.e. Sabrina Carpenter
