That's the Jubilee episode of liberal vs conservative muslims, not Gen Z

Posted

The girl later on in the video reveals she's queer. My good sis had them conservatives pressed and distressed by preaching that Allah accepts queer Muslims and polyamory in women, yas sis. :gaycat2:

Wow you could tell the liberal Muslim was anxious as hell to say what she said but she is passionate about what she believes, and so she powered through it to push forward the debate.

Fundamentalism is the main issue with all religions. Passing teachings and lessons across many people, and then penning them in books, and then translating them into multiple languages just deteriorates core messages over and over again. I don’t know why interpretation is such a foreign concept when it comes to religion and everything has to be taken so literally all the time…

Can we all just follow the golden rule and be nice to one another? I’m not religious and that’s how I choose to live my life - treat others how you wish to be treated. It’s a basic kindergarten interaction and yet it’s lost on so many people - especially those who think bullying, attacking, and stripping the rights of others is somehow a moral way to spread love and makes you a good person :deadbanana2:

I wouldn’t hold my breath for Muslim community to suddenly accept homosexuality

the legend at the end said everything so eloquently :jonnycat:  sending them so much love bc what they said was spot on  :heart2:

They are not split, they are homophobic, lol. This is coming from someone who’s entire family are Muslim, raised Muslims and have grown up around Muslim people my entire life. Most “Muslims” who say being gay is okay are the equivalent of a western Christian, in that they believe in God but don’t follow their religious doctrine. Unfortunately, that’s a minority of Muslims though because Islam and the Quran are strict on you not being lax and being devote.

How can you openly and freely just spew hate against homosexuals And not receive any backlash :rip:

oh right cause religion. If any other person did this, theyd be fired and cancelled.

Her purpose is clearly to inspire other queer Muslims to come out, rathe than waste her time fighting every conservative Muslim, because the product of more and more queer Muslims coming out is the expanded acceptance of queer people when people are forced to reconcile with reality in front of them; a type of nuance that your reactionary views typically miss, even when said reactionary views harm queer Muslims.

It’s only middle eastern Muslims that act deranged. And they wonder why they’re always getting attacked. African, Asian and European Muslims are normal though. A shame because the Middle East used to be a very nice place.

She's also wrong. the Quran is nonnegotiably against homosexuality

Tea, the good sis is definitely holding on to her interpretation for dear life….

Right-Wing Ex-Muslims: "There is no place for LGBT people within Islam!"

Right-Wing Muslims: "There is no place for LGBT people within Islam!"

Is one really be an *ex* Muslim if they drop the branding but not the right-wing habit of essentializing? Do they actually disagree with an ideology or do they just resent certain cultural artifacts that represent personal pillars in their life they resent?

Literally what on earth are you on about? It says specifically in the Quran that homosexual actions are forbidden. You can go look at the verses yourself. You can start with 7:81

It also says in important religious texts within Judaism that one can't use electricity on the weekends or that sex outside of marriage is a sin within Catholicism, yet the vast majority of these people don't live their lives or view their connection to religiosity as somehow impacted by bending ~the rules~ and making exceptions.

Religions are not innate realities. They're social contracts. So as an atheist, if I can give you the grace to post dumb **** like calling a collection of cells a "human" like you did here when randomly trying to dunk on abortion in a thread about Meghan Markle's miscarriage, even when such views like yours goes against all findings of modern secular science (see @Delirious? I can dunk on religious delusion just fine ), I then think I and you and anyone else can practice grace and let queer Muslim people self-rationalize what may appear as nonsensical for their own comfort. I mean, that's literally what religion is, the attempted rationalizing of the world for self-comfort. Especially if your alleged goals are somehow to improve the lives of queer people impacted by Islam.

Her religious views are not any more contradicting than you or any other Orthodox person's views.

In fact, I think I like her views more than yours or other right-wing religious people's views.

Wait until you find about how many of the followers of Christ don't actually think the wine is his actual blood. :gaycat2:

Conversations of Islam are always so funny since you'll have a random combination of reactionary ex-Muslims living out their personal resentments to like a mean uncle then working alongside genuinely conservative Muslims, who then work alongside right-wing Christians preaching that somehow their religion is fine and reformable but not the one largely practiced by the people who they want to conveniently end migration into their country of. :deadbanana4:

A queer muslimah is really the most powerful thing. :clap3: The good sis in the video has y'all spooked. :clap3:

I saw this but the man was VERY informative of the verses. Islam is pretty straight forward on it's anti lgbt views.IDK how much she could twist it.

As a former Muslim and a gay man who lives in a place that you can be killed for being gay, Islam is a disease. The most violent organized religion in this day (well at least from the big ones). I want people to actually live in a country like Iran, Malaysia (or even Turkey would be enough) that defends this religion and bashes the queer people who suffered and still suffer emotional trauma because of Islam.

I have no problem with Muslim queers. I support them and encourage them in their beliefs and practice Islam to the ends of their desire without hurting anybody. But we can seperate people from the religion, and call a spade, spade.

Notice how easy it is for a religious bigot to pass judgement and dehumanize others without much thought or empathy compared to the last girl who put herself in such a vulnerable position. She was on the verge of tears but still came thru well thought out response that single handedly pointed out the hypocrisy and patriarchal bias that justifies rape and pillaging.

Im sorry but that girl in the end has absolutely no idea what shes talking about and makes zero sense. i saw this episode and she literally got nervous because she knew she is contridicting herself
