Yomaku Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 The album that turned me officially into a fan back then, i was obsessed! Unfortunately with time many songs grew off me but I do apprciate the nostalgia.
Alex Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Doing It, Need Ur Luv, Body of My Own and Caught in the Middle are all A tier pop songs so no!
truthteller Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 its literally synth pop perfection along with the hyper pop perfection pop2
Heartbreak Prince Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 It was literally the last time she released a full body of work that was listenable throughout, so no.
Sergi91 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Tiesto saved her by releasing this masterpiece the drop tho
pavi Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 How is nobody talking about the title track on this album!? That's the best song on there, it's so much fun I've been dreaming of her doing a hyperpop version of that on a love show someday Overall the album isn't bad imo, but Break The Rules is a career lowpoint I also agree with the fillers in the op and I personally don't really Like Boom Clap, mostly because of the lyrics and melody. I think the album just suffers from having too many songs that are okay, but that aren't great (thinking of Gold Coins, Famous, and so on). Body Of My Own, Doing It and So Over You are bops, tho!
Right Now Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 No. Doing It, Sucker, and Gold Coins are bops!
Dolce Vita Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) i hated sucker when it came out because of how different it was to true romance, but in hindsight it was an okay album. i never really revisited any of the few songs i did like, but need your love (japanese wallpaper remix) and the title track are cute! Alex Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 this genuinely being one of the best pop songs of all time, no words as to why it wasn’t as big of hit as Boom clap
modern thing Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 it's a solid album, Charli doesn't really have bad projects tbh Need Ur Luv is still incredible

That song drags the whole album down for me. Other than that a lot of the other tracks are very catchy. Filler songs: Body of My Own Caught in the Middle I totally agree; it was so lame and off-putting that it deterred me from listening to the full thing or liking her lol
Julia Fox Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 I have been listening to SUCKER a lot this past days and it’s a very good record that it gets overshadowed by the hate it received when it came out + the Charli hate to the record but it’s one of the most catchy and fun albums I ever heard ever like… it’s an incredible power pop record after all
Scars Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 No, it's a fun album and I've always perceived it as an ironic take on late teenage love, female empowerment and heartbreak. It felt like it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I guess it doesn't align with Charli's pretentious self-perception of her own place in the music landscape, I guess. It doesn't hold a candle next to True Romance, but it's a solid pop album. Sucker, Need Your Love, Famous, Body Of My Own, Gold Coins, Caught in the Middle and Doing It are all bops!
