I'm convinced Taeyeon would have been the biggest Korean female singer in the world had SM given her a fraction of the support western artists get from their label. 

 

She has this indie vibe and music someone more classical like IU doesn't have, that is more trendy in Asia and in the west. Give her big promotional campaigns and big tours ala Taylor Swift and watch her take all over Asia and more.
