Ryujin has always been the main face of Itzy, MV wise anyway, and I think that's simply a representation of JYP's old thinking. Itzy = different, unique, self-love = Dalla Dalla = Ryujin, who has the most tomboyish image of the group. That's it. JYP can see Yuna go viral in fancams but still not change a thing because that's not what Itzy is.

That said, they've definitely given Chaeryeong more lines over the years. She's taken a lot from Lia and Yeji and is essentially acting as a Lia replacement now. Yeji has always done the most because she's the most "all-rounder" of the group.

Chaeryeong is literally the best dancer of the group, and yet she’s barely given any centers or dance breaks though

Please!!

Yuna’s birthday cover video later today/tomorrow. :duca:

No need to drag the girls. Yuna, Ryujin, Yeji and Chaeryeong have the it factor. :giraffe: Not everyone has that despite sabotage from the company.

We're at an all time low in terms of quantity of girl group content.

There’s a rumor 3 SM female trainees will be revealed pretty soon :coffee2:

they are Jiwoo, Haram and Jooeun :hippo:

SM also uploaded 3 private videos to the rookies section so I guess something is really coming :bird:

Her and Winter are basically Taeyeon 2.0 & 3.0 visually. SM is obsessed with Taeyeon visual for real, even their male idols be looking liker her:rip::skull:

JYP won’t have an IT girl anytime soon sadly

#JusticeForYuna

The way that company has wasted so many IT girls over the years :rip:

Nayeon

Sana

Tzuyu (although she’s kinda bland in charisma and wouldn’t go too far if pushed)

Yuna

Yeji

i mean the material was right there. The possibilities were endless. Idk why the Suzy situation scared them so much :rip:

the fact that Nayeoncé succeeded despite finally getting her solo years after the group’s peak in Korea tells you all you need to know about her power and the IT girl potential that there was if the timing was paid attention to.

Hybe seems to be trying to turn Eunchae into an It Girl but Garam is the real It Girl who got away. I mean let's be honest, she had all the makings of one, including one hell of a stank eye.

Eunchae I'm afraid can't bring the drama like that

In a way I kinda feel like LSF would be even bigger (mainly domestically) with Garam in the group if the scandal didn’t exist. People underestimate the importance of a solid Korean visual center member (cause they will never let a foreigner be an IT girl). Wonder how the new belift/hybe GG will do since they seem very visually stacked

I wonder how many of these known trainees will actually debut. Apparently Helen debut is under question and there is conflicting news.

There will probably be private/hidden trainees who will debut too. For example Giselle wasn't known about before debut. Same with Joy.

And is it me or is Jang Wonyoung and Karina starting to look like each other :lakitu:

I'll It (is that how you spell their name??) has less TikTok followers than Katseye and Vcha so idk girl...... I think if you go too heavy in the direction of what Korea wants and likes your group will be boring asf.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the Seunghan situation they took another look at these girls' pasts and made sure no one would have something leaked upon debut. Trouble makers kicked out before being revealed unless they're just too crucial to the group.

This is SO interesting.

I also think all Kpop tends to get lumped together whereas Afrobeats and Latin artists still maintain some element of individuality despite being in the same genre together. Like Tyla's success is Tyla's success, not all of Afrobeats's success.

I'm more intrigued and fascinated by KPOP dying in South East Asia. I have seen some local groups rising in Thailand etc. but I am wondering if there's a larger social/cultural or even political reason as to why SEA is less into Korean **** these days.

Kpop fans are also more inclined to casually follow all Kpop artists and keep up with all the releases. You never read that x music genre is saturated in other music communities but that's not an uncommon sentiment in Kpop despite fewer active Kpop artists. South Korea is a small country and Kpop is a tight-knit community. Idols are under the same labels, know, talk and interact with each other often and so do the fans.

Bang PD attributed the decline in SEA to BTS hiatus. Kpop isn't dying in SEA but that was also the first time it was showing negative growth I think. I can't find the exact article I remember reading, IIRC it was along the lines of -3-5% negative growth overall. I haven't read any in-depth article about the Kpop album sales bubble, I feel like the ups and downs in physical sales and how it reflects on Kpop music consumption is unclear atp.

Is Garam the biggest it girl ever? Kpop fans can't seem to take her name out of their mouth.
