This was genuinely so awful, I remember being speechless on first listen  

 

And somehow the parent album was even WORSE, a collection of generic, dated, selena gomez-rejects garbage. The fact that most westerners only know this side of her and not her incredible Jazz/Folk songs is depressing, to say the least.

Well, you're right that's ridiculous too.  

 

And it wasn't mean to be an attack on @Gorjesspazze9 in particular at all, I just constantly see the same discussions happen around IU and Taeyeon and it's just annoying from both sides. I don't get why either fanbases are obsessed with being the #1 soloist and constantly arguing about it.

Campy out of trend love songs have always been IUs bread and butter and the uplifting message of Celebrity slayed in the covid era but ATRL is too full of cynical faux intellectual man babies with little to no emotional depth.

None of them are coming for Iu/Taeyeon just because some of them  they had few hits. It’s like saying Olivia is bigger than Beyoncé or Rihanna because sour is bigger any of their album. 
IU and Taeyeon have been much longer and the new soloists are barely touching them. 

Jennie could challenge them one day but she doesn’t enough materials to judge her career overall.

Majority of Yawn stans are fully aware IU is just on another level besides they aren't exactly contemporaries to warrant such comparison. Both have their own lanes and have their own successes

If anyone can’t touch them, then you shouldn’t have brings BTS men in the first place… if you can say that BTS are the closest too IU/Taeyeon even if it’s by a margin, BP despite not having any albums are also the closest especially among the female idols.

Almost every group i can name had at least 1 hit song, you cant say the same about this gen when its only groups from 4 companies that slay the game.

One day we will talk about the DJ/Producer Czaer.

 

First of all, he the DJ behind the Luna/Amber project when SM was not giving f(x) anything.

It's thanks to him they had their little EDM duet and even worked with R3HAB.

 

Then the music he produced

 

And the fact he produced 90% of the songs on SWF & SMF

 

 

Then the only people who worked with him since has been Hyolyn, ITZY (RACER aka the song that should have been the title track of Checkmate album), Niel

 

Like a good dancer could have such a great album entirely produced by him.

Jennie might be the biggest idol of her gen and part of the biggest GG of all time but we'll need to see how her first album does to see if she can compare to IU at all lol

 

it's unfair to compare when YG has kept her in the dungeon for years even after SOLO smashed and made her The it girl

I hadn't thought of it before but aren't only 2 of the IDLE members from Korea? I feel like that might play a role on how they are perceived by the GP. I saw a post about BABYMONSTER with many upvotes saying YG was crazy for debuting a group with only 2 koreans lol

Tea they had three with Soojin, but it's only Miyeon and Soyeon left.

 

Their Korean success is even more impressive when we take that into account

The bigger problem is YG.

 

All of them were preparing ALBUMS.

I mean You & Me is coming from SOLO sessions.

Hard To Love was from On The Ground sessions.

Typa Girl was first sent for Lisa when she was preparing her solo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jisoo unreleased songs comes out in the future sang by someone else.

No one really thinks she’s on IU level lol. But if you mention BTS men, then sorry but you can’t not include BP soloists even if they don’t have albums.

Miyeon is considered the korean visual, Soyeon is popular for her talent at least but the GP doesn't seem to care about her that much outside of that... The other 3 never stood a chance in Korea

 

yeah it's impressive, when you think about it what's carrying them is the music and their concepts which Korea seems to love lol
