chiquita was really the best part of BATTER UP. she has the most charisma and stage presence. she really can become Lisa 2.0 :jonny5:

nmixx are the true losers tbh in all of this, batter up will smash on all platforms from hype alone

tbh I'd rather see yg experiments with different genres and fails like jyp did with NMIXX

yg has been using the same old formula for their groups for more than a decade:hoetenks:

Korean netizens talk about BABYMONSTER’s debut with ‘BATTER UP’ MV:

1. They look like an idol group from a small to medium sized company

2. It’s like BLACKPINK’s debut days

3. What? It sounds like a BLACKPINK song

4. The MV and song are both good

5. The song isn’t very good but the MV is good

6. The song is disappointing… I think they just put together some leftover YG beats from somewhere

7. It sounds like a BLACKPINK song

8. The song is not good, it sounds like a song from the 2000s ㅠ But who is the visual member of this group? There are no members that catch my eye

9. There’s no member that really stands out

10. It’s like a song created by combining BLACKPINK songs

11. When I think about the debut of 2NE1 or BLACKPINK… I feel disappointed with this group

pO.Op was garbage and an obvious attempt to recreate Next Level’s success, but at least it was something DIFFERENT for a JYP group and a genuine risk for a debut that helped them stand out

Baby Monsters did it for 1/1 so far and better than BP debut output that was 0/2

Imagine comparing whatever BM has just released to this avant-garde.

O.O was iconic from start to finish and will be remembered for decades to come. Batter Up won’t even be remembered by 9AM KST today.

The same-old tired YG formula but this time nothing stands out

yeah i blame the mid song and video production.

there is potential here, and their formations look better as 7

I think that's the only thing bothering me with this debut; on paper its good and the vocals/raps are nice improvement from BP but something is missing.

Nothing bad about the debut just dull/boring. Vocal parts weren't memorable. Raps didn't hit.  Mv was flash, but not a lot of substance. Could be worse could be better. For a debut it's alright, but hopefully they can find something that really works for them in a comeback or two.

sorry to bring them up for the umpteenth time today, but it’s giving nmixx for me in the sense that there’s enough talent there for me to check their comebacks to see if the music also clicks for me

it only took… 3 comebacks for nmixx to release something I liked so it’s not totally hopeless

Charisma…:giraffe:

Blackpink never lacked in this department

the rap seems technically better then bp but Jennie and Lisa are mothers who know how to serve

rosè and Jisoo vocals color wise are stronger and stand out but mesh well better then baby monster vocal line imo

Batter Up is good, but it got that Teddy-like sound even tho he didn't participate in creating the song. Very formulaic and playing it safe with YG style. O.O is still the better debut song for me, ages like wine, the more you listen to it, the more you like it :coffee2:

I was unfortunate enough to come across baby dumpster's mv on my tl, safe to say the song is absolute donkey dookie, and let's not talk about the money knockoff chorus :rip:
