Yawn is much more emotive & has a more unique vocal color than Wendy, but you'd have to be absolutely delusional not to acknowledge Wendy is a much more well rounded, consistent, and technically proficient vocalist.

SM main vocalists is objectively Luna > Wendy > Taeyeon > NingNing.

Tho I love all of them obviously

yeah Yawn has lost her vocal stamina a little in recent years due to her weight loss as well

the way even in your list of songs that should’ve been there (as far as songs that would work in this format), you’re still missing classics like Body Talk, So Good, Perfect 10, Pushin n Pullin, Bamboleo, Day 1, LP, etc

Sappy if they could sneak a Japanese song in because that PRECHORUS

see that’s the problem with having such a rich discography

I would've snuck in Sappy or Wildside, too but ya know :celestial6: Also, justice for Somethin Kinda Crazy!

They really need to announce a proper World Tour with proper venues and the right tour management.

They is clearly demand for it and Reveluvs have disposable income for tickets lol :gaycat2:

It seems the procedures to her nose have also downgraded her voice unfortunately. I hadn't listened to her since 2014, so hearing how thin her voice had become in GOT The Beat shocked me. Her voice was so much fuller in SNSD's peak.

I don't really get the Wendy "emotionless" comments. She clearly feels the music and that comes across in the vocal. When This Rain Stops is a perfect example and connected with a lot of singers/idols who have since covered it too.

For sure. All her vocal peaks were when she was thicker. Im glad other Taeyeon stans notice this and I'm not delusional about it. Unfortunately it is an indication that the level of skinniness she stays at these days is negative for her overall health, which I just hate :chick3:

The only problems Wendy has now with her vocals is her lack of emotiveness and her being sloppy at the beginning and the ending of her phrasing (sliding up or down in pitch on her way to the correct note, but then being continuously on pitch for the entirety of the phrase she's singing). The latter is a problem that is prevelant throughout almost every K-Pop vocalist in the industry.

But also you can't really tell whether that actually IS her problem because all K-Pop live singing now has copious amounts of live pitch correction on it to get that glossy, vibrato-less "perfect" finish that people have gotten used to over the years. It could just be the algorithm pitching the note down automatically.

She can sing absolute circles around 99,99% of the South Korean music industry.

This **** drives me absolutely NUTS. God what I would give to here Killing Voice without it.

This is why live vocals on music shows, encores, or in concert footage are so valuable for me. The last places where we are getting a true picture of live vocal ability.

i believe she has talked before about changing the way she sings to go more nasally and bright (can’t rmb, i think I read somewhere) but i agree that that had to have some effect. altho i feel like her nose hasn’t gone with as much changes since then compared to other parts of her face.

She pretty much just changed her approach to singing, using a more head voice heavy mix post 2012. The "fuller" sound with more chest voice in the mix can be more strenuous on the chords over the years, if you don't get the technique down with an inhumane precision and know your limits. She tried to carry too much weight up to high belting in the Twinkle promotions and it damaged her voice a lot for quite a long time, she started lipsyncing A LOT after that. (Which is also the time Tiffany started to get more high notes to compensate for Taeyeon f*cking up her vocal chords with Twinkle).

I think it was deliberate decision to preserve a bit more the longevity of her voice.
