IK this was already talked about before but i really REALLY hate how they skipped SO many songs

nct dream performed 19 (:skull:) songs, nct 127 16 and seventeen 15

while EXO sang 14 :deadbanana:

it’s just extremely disrespectful like i’m sorry

and the NERVE to include power over several classics is just…

is this like the korean First Take :suburban:

Where have u been? They been promoting it hard

They have been promoting it hard overseas. On Korean music shows, they only had 2 and that were pre recording before they even went to US, hence Chaewon absence on that Studio Choom because she’s sick.

With another one week music show promotion, Perfect Night will easily snatch Top 3 Melon Top 100.

I don’t follow Korean charts I’m just a big fan of a lot of acts but people really made me believe RV (my all time faves) were over and done because of Birthday :skull: they’re doing pretty well all things considered no?

I’m just happy they got this tho. I live and work in Japan and no one I teach (15-18 year olds) really knows them or cares because they’re old news :rip: but I’m going to buy a physical in HMV after work today. They had promo ready for it in the kpop section (which is bigger than the Japanese section these days hdjdjd)

Birthday was their biggest seller by far. It almost sold more than their first five years combined :deadbanana: The digitals and streaming numbers were bad, but there was more interest in RV than ever.

It’s also always so shocking that RV weren’t bigger in Japan. Everything they do is so…Japanese. I think the Happiness video hurt them really bad

japan likes typical models

rv though beautiful is too quirky conceptually but that's why they appeal to western audiences and girl crush demo

Oh fjdkdjd I thought it didn’t do well we :rip: I’m happy to know that’s the case.

Yeah TWICE has such a monopoly on Japan for third gen in terms of the cuteness (and misamo ofc give them an advantage) plus Blackpink were huge but definitely are fading here among the younger generation (Gen Alpha age). There’s big interest in the 4th gen groups but something never clicked with Japan and RV. I also just don’t think their Japanese music is very good :deadbanana2: but on paper you’d think their music would’ve appealed to Japan. Oh well! Guess it’s up to me to promote

birthday had bulk sales but that means nothing and spotify is king. lets not pretend the entire era was bigger than fmr :deadbanana:

Red Velvet is really one of a kind group were they can get a hit after flopping.

This barely ever happens. Most groups who get a flop, keep flopping. Especially if they are past the 7 year.

I kinda fell off from Kpop around the time covid hit after being big into it during uni 2015-2019. I especially stopped paying attention to RV despite them being my faves and only listened once so I have absolutely no idea how Queendom, FMR or Birthday fared and I’m trying to piece it together now nnn now that I live in Asia it’s way easier to be into it again when I hear them everywhere

I completely ignored aespa until 2023 and they’re now becoming my new gen faves w NewJeans. When I went to Seoul I bought a couple of their albums (not Girls tho, she can choke)

Speaking of k-groups in Japan. Is SM ever going serious with aespa over there? They have pontential and is such a waste to see keep chasing the US recognition when Japan has shown more interest.

oh the album sold well, but the song itself TANKED

even as an enjoyer (it’s a nice 7 imo), it objectively flopped on the charts. probably their biggest bomb since like… Be Natural? Queendom was a cute hit and FMR smashed (never #1 but great longevity in the top 10), so it makes Birthday look even worse lmao

but clearly the public is here for them with the right song :jonny3:
