Chill Kill and Drama are now top 10 :jonnycat:

Oh the SM girlies are taking it. Nasty company but these bops had to HIT. RV haven't even started any promo yet, I fear a collapse could be upon us after Killing Voice & their first performance.

So if you think about it, Girls is the only

aespa single that has underperformed on Melon and korean digital charts. QUEENS

tbh i’ve never understood why certain users made a big deal out of melon ULs being low (and used it as a drag) when that also means the overall consumption is low :dies:

Didn't notice that they kinda switching roles this time around

Irene has a lot more singing parts than she usually does. Wendy and Joy having rap parts. Joy has the climax high note instead of Wendy. The VERSATILITY :jonny:

Why do people get so triggered when people who stan some SM groups stockholm themselves into liking a subpar song when that's literally a classic kpop fan thing to do? It's not the conspiracy you guys make it out to be. SM ggs + Exo/SHINee just generally have great music and sometimes we have to cope with a bad release.

At least their albums are always listenable and the titles aren't consistently bad, lots of groups can't relate!

Exactly! Like company stans have been around & exist for a reason~ we're not all in this to be objective serious music consumers a la pitchfork or whatever. It makes a little less sense today than it did in the second gen when each of the big labels were (loosely) associated w different sounds (jyp was kind of retro/funky, yg had hippity hop & sm electro pop & ballads) and release schedules (jyp acts = fairly regular, yg acts = crumbs & sm = ceaseless barrage). SM wound up w the most stans because they had the most acts (w the most combined popularity) and released the most regularly while maintaining fairly consistent quality across releases. YG wound up a close second because they really did stockholm syndrome their fans into thinking that releasing less music automatically = superior quality music and it's been that way every since. Then JYP was just always fumbling the bag until they struck gold copy pasting snsd but sacrificing talent for visuals (which is fine, since it's k-pop). Then pd101 and BTS (and maybe loona i guess) changed everything and company stan culture became kind of a legacy thing that new fans just kind of fall into because that's how it's always been?

But at a base level - people like what they like. If they like one label's artist then chances are they'll like another artist from that same label because they probably use the same songwriters, producers, choreographers, creative directors and promote their idols in a similar way.

But some brave souls can withstand this intense psychological coercion and rise above to hold totally unbiased opinions & look down in pity on us mere sheeple who are a hivemind legally bound to like & stream every new release from their favourite company :worship2:

Jkjk love to all, we're all just music enjoyers and I love me some good discourse now & again :ducky:

Another proof that they can ALL sing :clap3:

Joy did what she had to do on Chill Kill's bridge and it's about time she got another moment like that, to silence all those people who keep attempting to shade her vocals.

Irene also sounds amazing throughout the whole album, she was giving sultry vocals and Yeri was doing a lot of heavy lifting in the harmonies, especially on the lower parts.

Wendy and Seulgi excelled and shined as usual too.

I think what's really funny is how someone could care so much what other people like and dislike in a post about their own thoughts on an album. Imagine listening to a K-pop song, disliking it, and thinking "well if another group released it you guys would dislike it like me" rather than give reasons as to why you didn't enjoy it

Well you cannot say girl is an underperformance when BM is their least successful title. :bird:
