Hello, I've been reading this thread for about a year, I learned a lot about k-pop all in good fun. 

My favourite artists: Girls' Generation, Twice, Newjeans

My favourite discography: Red Velvet
My favourite celebrities: IU, Soyeon

 

I've been very impressed with ADOR, I've great hopes their future boy group will spark my interest in more boy group music 

 

Now onto Red Velvet's last effort before disbandment

Friday release didn't stop their album sales hit 1M right away with Girls. Kakao's supposedly being better album distributor than Dreamus yet this is like the third time of messy album distribution this year alone.... 

But... it's about time they start to work on the Spotify campaign if SM don't want to take that pay cut for Discovery Mode.

This album is quite perfect. The vocals, harmonies, Wendell screaming on the bridges. Underwater being R&B gold and to

tugging at Automatic’s wig. All the b-sides are better than the TT but that’s just SM A&R in a nutshell. Definitely should have came out a month ago because it’s very spooky vibe overall but they ate and already on par with The Perfect Velvet on first listen. Now this is the Red Velvet I stan.

Do yall really listen to stuff several times until it finally clicks for you???? HOW For me, if it's not hitting out the gate then I simply tap out.

 

I guess I just know my music taste well enough cause why would I torture my self by re-listening to a song that's not clicking just because they're my favs, like I know for a fact the lot of you do NAWT listen multiple times to music that isn't your favs. If ur fav didn't deliver, let it go and don't delude yourself. Whenever mine doesn't, I just shut it out, act like it doesn't exist and don't bring it up cause there is more than enough material for me to still stan. It's not the end of the world if they don't deliver.

 

Then again though, I stan excellence so they very rarely miss.

it depends. if it’s from a group I usually like/love then I try to give it more than one listen because I appreciate little things here and there in a song.

"Cohesion!"  This is their worst album period, absolutely lifeless instrumentals that can be found on youtube for free... Not a single creative or inspired moment found. They got scraps just like Aespa did. Once the recency bias has faded (by tomorrow), people will admit that this was extremely weak for a full LP.

For me that word has always meant that i like the song out the gate but that i simply just don't love it as the other heavy hitters fav releases, so while im going back through the catalog the song HITS me like a brick (most times in situations where i needed that song) and that's when I wake up. When i dont like a song tho i dont put it in my 'liked' or playlists so i literally never go back to check in on it again, like it was never released. I dont hate on it or anything, it just doesn't have power over me to love it on the day it releases like some people do with their favs new material.

Chill Kill is actually really cute which I didn't expect from the more somber teasers. I love a switch up in K-pop, like the chorus just barges into your head

Maybe... because some Kpop music is usually experimental and quirky and it will take time to digest? 

 

Like I don't know a single person who wasn't "WTF is this" upon IGAB's first listen, but then it became a klassic
