The layers of autotune, the "dated" synths...was like ear candy. Thank you especially to Brave Brothers for all you did back then. Yes at my hags 4Minute, who literally build off their career through heavy auto tuned electro dance pop. My little gay ass was bopping hard, not even peak Gaga was doing that to me with her electro pop like 4Minute did 1

Rainy Devil Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 (edited) Still one hour to go. I was kinda hoping to see it before going to bed. Edited November 10, 2023 by Rainy Devil 1

You could tell that, they even with all the hardships, most 2nd gen idols and 3rd gen idols loved music and wanted to be perform. Since being an idol became a profitable hobby for rich kids, the drive we saw before is no longer present in most groups nowadays. Even the nepo kids in the 2nd gen tried to be skilled since being an idol was seen as a job for "poor" people and not fancy as it is nowadays. I think you’ve got rose-colored glasses. Second gen had much weaker choreo and a lot more lipsyncing, and that’s because there wasn’t enough money in K-pop yet. I remember Tiffany passing out and breaking her leg and having to do promotions in a cast. Or all of the half-assed promotions because groups made absolutely nothing from digitals and had to do every CF and every event to stay profitable. I don’t think there are quite as many standouts in the current gen yet as there were in 2nd gen, but 4th gen is much healthier and more enjoyable to experience as it goes on. And I say that as a massive second gen stan

One of my first moments with K-pop was Muzik and when Hyuna barged into the song doing a split, I stanned. K-pop was magical 1

And I say that as a massive second gen stan The choreos don't need to be super complicated for it to be good or compliment the song. Today the goal is to get some trendy part for it to be on tiktok. I personally prefer the choreos we had before. Not having to be so perfect with the choreo made them rock the stage more. Lipsyncing has always been there in kpop but you cannot come and say 2nd gen didn't have more live stages compared to 4th gen. That is a lie and you know it. I do agree a lot of things were just downright bad and in need of a change, especially for the idol's mental and physical sake. My point is that you could see how, most groups, were motivated to just be able to perform. I see some groups nowadays and they seem to be more focused on looking perfect than enjoying the stage or be being spontaneous. Just my personal opinion tho. I still like kpop despite the changes.
