Lmao how do you think the label would make money if they offered Lisa $250M? Most A-list pop girls wouldn't make that much money in their entire career just from music alone

Well I’m not talking about soccer players, that industry operates differently and idk why the deals are sky high there, don’t ask me about that. But in the music industry, that amount is too much for someone who has barely started her solo career. (Katy is obviously a different case  because I’m sure Teenage Dream alone was worth $200M lbr). So yeah i don’t think that’s  misogynistic per say because I’m sure it’s the same for male artists too.

These aren’t the same thing. Katy sold the rights to her music for $225M. That means that anytime you stream anything from One Of The Boys to “When I’m Gone,” the new rights holders make a cut. They also get performance royalties, licensing royalties (meaning anytime it’s used for television/movies/commercials), merchandising, etc. They will not see a return on investment for a very long time there, but it’s an indefinite payout.

 

An artist getting a $250M record deal is unfathomable. Lisa’s solo mini sold 1M copies and she only makes a small cut of what BlackPink does. Even at the rate the group is going, they could double their current success and that still wouldn’t be anywhere near the new record label making $250M. Especially when you realize YG still has the rights to all of BP’s music up until “The Girls” and Lisa’s first single.

I think we’re getting at the same thing here. I didn’t mean Katy would get the royalties from the catalogue from now on, I was talking about the 225M payout she cashed. And this is not comparable to Lisa at all which is the same thing you’re saying.

I saw a tweet goinng around I haven't checked it yet, but the fact that this company (which is funded by the disgusting Lee Byung Hun) is going around looking for idols and acting idols, seems plausible to me, plus the fact that CEO and several managers from that company follows her.

Yeah I know about LBH scandals and the fact that it’s the biggest acting company of SK . But I don’t see her going to an acting company if she leaves YGE, them following her doesn’t mean that much imo
