I saw most of the offers but the ones with sources are:

- the major US label, one the top 5 label sending her love calls. 

- A Chinese company sent an offer that tripled YG's offer, but here the catch. It was an advances in PR and album production, so it wasnt money going in her pocket. 

- A Thai company also sent love calls.

- the Indonesian one I haven't seen the numbers people are posting on Twitter.

but let’s be real here, we all want our kpop girlies to get the bag and be rich but the $250M for Lisa sounds absolutely ridiculous. She’s sure in demand but no one’s paying that much for one person who hasn’t even properly started her solo music career.  Let’s take off our rose colored glasses and be realistic here.

Well I’m not talking about soccer players, that industry operates differently and idk why the deals are sky high there, don’t ask me about that. But in the music industry, that amount is too much for someone who has barely started her solo career. (Katy is obviously a different case  because I’m sure Teenage Dream alone was worth $200M lbr). So yeah i don’t think that’s  misogynistic per say because I’m sure it’s the same for male artists too.

These aren’t the same thing. Katy sold the rights to her music for $225M. That means that anytime you stream anything from One Of The Boys to “When I’m Gone,” the new rights holders make a cut. They also get performance royalties, licensing royalties (meaning anytime it’s used for television/movies/commercials), merchandising, etc. They will not see a return on investment for a very long time there, but it’s an indefinite payout.

 

An artist getting a $250M record deal is unfathomable. Lisa’s solo mini sold 1M copies and she only makes a small cut of what BlackPink does. Even at the rate the group is going, they could double their current success and that still wouldn’t be anywhere near the new record label making $250M. Especially when you realize YG still has the rights to all of BP’s music up until “The Girls” and Lisa’s first single.

I think we’re getting at the same thing here. I didn’t mean Katy would get the royalties from the catalogue from now on, I was talking about the 225M payout she cashed. And this is not comparable to Lisa at all which is the same thing you’re saying.
