it's weird to think AOA and Twice are both 3rd gen tbh lol but debut year wise it makes sense

I think people count 2007 as the beginning of 2nd gen in their heads but in reality SuJu and more groups were already active in 2005, that's 7 years between SuJu and EXO, which is the typical contract duration

2005-2011

2012-2018

2019-

this fits the most tbh

but TVXQ is also 2nd gen and debuted in 2003

I feel like gens envolved around some SM debuts
H.O.T
TVXQ

EXO

but in the middle of 3rdgen SM was not anymore the unquestionable #1, they lost the power of control the entire narrative
JYP took advantage and pushed ITZY as a new gen

Kpop is still about fan massive streaming and sales the last time gepee picked up some asian music was with 5050, Yoasobi, Joji and NJ a bit.

Touring wise I looks like kpop acts are established already at least

Speaking of Loona---

why did i NOT know of this serve until today omg??

Not friends era was odd, It looks like BBC had so much debts so they did collabs here and there in this case with Ryan S. Shun I think they sold something like 50k albums, they also collabed with cocomong twice

EXO debut is so 2nd gen coded, but SM decided they were 3rd gen even before Growl happened and everyone accepted
meanwhile AOA 2.5 gen :deadbanana:

I mean to me it would be weird for EXO and BTS to be different generations. But yeah it's weird how some groups can debut in the same year but feel like different generations, but I guess it's like that irl with family generations too.

Seventeen truly were the winners among the bgs in Korea this year, from the biggest album sales to the biggest bg song to the biggest bg subunit song :clap3:

and the kings did it in their 9th year, still going strong :clap3:

and people still try to diminish their success just because they don’t have a deranged toxic online fanbase lol

Twice are doing AMAZING touring wise. They simply are not Blackpink tho.

At least TWICE will have another tour while y’all sit there and reminisce about the good times like Britney stans

Don’t care for the loossebottom album the same way I didn’t care for the OEC album :monkey:

I can’t believe how fast I lost interest in them, I was beyond obsessed before [#] :monkey:

The end of an era

me too. i think jaden jeong marketing them as a mysterious and sorta ethereal girl group was the best thing that happened to them because as soon as his magic was gone i realized that the girls weren't really talented and most of them are boring too...

i'm not really a loona hater. in fact, i even had the first gen orbit membership and saw them live when they debuted as a full group lol, but it's true...

the loossemble girls are the most boring of the group which is why the tour is NOT selling...

the OEC girls are okay but jaden's concepts made them (especially kim lip and jinsoul) some sort of out of this world, ethereal, mystique goddess-like pop stars, but everything fell appart for them when he left and kim lip and jinsoul were just another two girls in a sea of kpop idols despite taking over twitter a few years prior

chuu is the only one who stayed true to herself from her solo debut to now. she's like the star of the group

you can admit that without being labeled as a hater. you're just weird if you think someone criticizing your favorite group is a hater

That's certainly more context and I don't know what did you expect coming from a unknown agency they won't get the most talented girls our there when most of them are in the biggest companies that still don't mean they are boring they are doing their thing with what they got, Jaden Jeong still couldn't make OEC by modhaus interesting not because he can't do it but cuz his low Budget. The fact is right now Loossemble is outselling OEC so maybe announcing their tour one month in advance with no music out isn't the reason don't you think so?
