SNSD had yet to either release their best selling album or embark on their biggest tour. Big Bang's obvious peak was MADE which was a 2015-6/7 era. Super Junior was in their flop military era but would become huge again the following year(unfortunately). 2NE1 and T-ara were the only real notable declines but they were both still huge at the time and 2NE1 had one of the biggest tours ever for a GG at the time in 2014. BIGBANG wasn't even on my mind, cause I know MADE was their peak. Actually, neither 2NE1 was too, even If you consider. From my perception, Crush seem to be a big era and they were forced to a hiatus due to a sequence of misfortune circustances, not because they were slowing down. But a lot of others (including some of I consider as representative and you didn't mention) were indeed slowing down.

Point still remains that before it was a marketing buzzword, generations were made up by fans specifically to separate groups who had different opportunities and had a totally different scope for their career. ATP its hard to contest a billion dollar company when they tell you what a generation is because they're the ones actually manufacturing the groups but nobody is going to see 4th and (the currently existing)5th gen groups as different the same way they see 3rd and 4th gen groups as different, barring some huge shift. It seems made up to keep certain groups from competing from 4th gen heavyweights. Edited September 11, 2023 by Century

But It's basically what I said. I just mentioned how I see that used to define a shift in a generation from 1st to 2nd/2nd to 3rd and how It has changed from 3rd to 4th/4th to 5th, because the media adopted such terms and are inorganically starting new generations (4th and 5th), when the previous ones were so smooth and there were reasons behind it (we might disagree on the reasons, but they were there). The thing is that despite feeling the shift in generation has been forced on our throats, I 'understand' why the media is doing this. Cause It's harder for groups to decline even when they peak in Korea (or have never been famous there), because of the globalization of K-pop. So they have a lot of other markets to rely on to a bigger extent.
Odette Violet Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Koreans are eating it up. SM needs to hurry up and give the song another promo or something 2

The thing I find most weird about the whole thing is that if these "5th generation" groups cannot compete with 4th gen groups who seemingly have not peaked yet and are still growing with every CB across the board, they similarly will be left in the dust by the real 5th gen representatives because every generation is bigger than the last. 1

I think there will have a few exceptions, but for the most part, It's very likely and I blame the oversaturation of the industry. Idols don't seem as valued as they used to be for fans during 2nd gen or even 3rd gen. There are so many newer and freshier groups that people keep switching the attention from one to another. Odette Violet Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 An appreciation to Soshi's formations over the years. 1. M 2. Diamond 3. Arrow 4. Heart 5. Centipede When GGs were not so heavy in choreo or formations back in a day. The Hags came out of the gate swinging Flash forward in their 30's and they're still slayin' the formation department and outdances little girls 3

Remember that one sentence when there was a whole petition to get her out of Mamamoo because of her body. "If I don't fit the beauty standards, I'll sets my own standards" While she was embraced worldIde in Korea she was hated for a long time until she was loved. And even then people said she didn't fit the beauty standards of an idol. 7 hours ago, BlackAura said: As a senior YG rat, here is my prediction of how things will work.... BM will debut with one song in October and will go perform for 2 weeks on Inkigayo and Music Core. After that they will announce how they are working on their debut album which will be coming very soon... Then 3-4 months silence and will release a mini (4 songs) in Q1 of 2024 and then a single for the summer and that's it folks. Even yourself don't believe that. 1 song coming Octobre-november. Then announcement of preparing a full album in Q1 2024 but only a single album being released in summer 2024, because delay and stuff and it will be released after trucks being sent to YG. A promise for this album before the end of 2024 but won't see them until 2025. And off course they will have some sort of concert in 2024 and will be the laughing stock of all kpop fans because they'd have like 5 songs and a bunch of covers.

Odette Violet Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 (edited) We better see Soshi and Aespa booking this and all this japanese stadiums next time cuz there is no other explanation other than deep misogyny why the Biggest Girl Group of 2nd Gen whose touring and grossing power is unmatched but were stuck doing 10K arenas at their prime.
