None of the Kpop acts has truly made it in the west lbr. Majority are fanbase driven and that's okay like just let SMismanagement do their thing like most of the Big 4. Aespa will still get fans at end of the day  :cm:

Anyway glad that SM is getting it right this time that not every songs needs a breakdown and high notes :siptea:

I'm sorry, but you can't really downplay what other groups have achieved in the West just because your faves haven't achieved those same things. Kpop acts like PSY, BTS and BP etc. have definitely made their marks in the West.

The thumbnail saying "bloppers" :rip:

This was cute though. The sitcom concept was really cool, especially the creepy ae-ttuddae commercials.

OT: Better Things MV is doing well on YouTube!

The ads are now kicking plus BT has more replay value than Spicy methinks, it's easy to the eyes and ears :clap3:

Where did I downplayed them? I literally just said most are fanbase driven which is true? and there's nothing wrong with that  :nicole:

Jihyo is charming & the song is repeatable. I think with variety & music shows it will go up.

I want a Mina solo :chick3:

EVERGLOW's song :ahh:

the production is giving 2013 royalty free EDM montage music, if they're lucky they'll end up on a top 10 Craziest Roller Coasters in the world video

All these Y2K and 90's concepts.

We're not too far of having a company not deleting the N-Words from demos again.

With how anti asian the west and the rest of murikkka are, it ain't surprising that the only korean song that truly cracked the mainstream is a meme'd song that exactly played the stereotypes asians are perpetuated to :bam:

The way it’s so clear how the subdued hatred for Twice in here by some people comes out whenever they release something. I saw the same thing with Nayeon, and now I’m seeing the same thing with Jihyo.

not her album sales being “fraudulent” and being compared to Nmixx as if she’s not THE god Jihyo from Twice, one of the best selling girlgroups with one of the biggest fandoms :dies:

also the “unlistenable tone” comments as if most of those people even listened to the mini in the first place, and the type of people liking those comments (and why am I not surprised most of those are the usual sm sheep lol). Y’all try to pretend to be all objective and subtle with your hatred for Twice but trust, y’all are transparent as hell.
i know I served miss italics Mel with this post but it was necessary. :bird:

You literally stated that "none of the of them has made it in the West"

And speaking about being fanbase driven, literally every music genre is almost carried by their own niché fandoms these days, since monoculture is dying, which is why we have seen different genres like Kpop grow globally these past few years. Nobody listens to the same music anymore, which is why there's this whole debate about new artists not breaking out anymore in the West etc.

Yes bc your average becky and joe from middle america haven't heard about Kpop. They aren't on Taylor Swift or Beyoncé type of mainstream where they don't need fanbase to get their name out there. Kpop is still pretty much a niche genre.

I was randomly browsing through the Melon chart and saw this vtuber girl group having multiple songs charting on it including the instrumental :deadbanana4:

I wonder if @harrythevifan knows more info about this group :celestial5:

When a top Korean twitch streamer creates a virtual girl group, there's a built in audience that's going to discover their music.  But no one was expecting it to actually be this successful.  It was kind of a joke that got out of hand, really.

I thought so too but they debuted a year before them so I assume Girls Re:verse was basically Kakao's attempt to enter the vtuber market.

The Re:verse thing was more about trying to combine their kpop business with their incredibly popular mobile game Uma Musume: Pretty Derby to see if that would work.
