CLC had all the ingredients to be a successful group (vocals, visuals, dancers, multiple language speakers) but they failed to connect and also had bad luck. CUBE also mismanaged them. They turned a corner with Hobgoblin only for CUBE to do a 180 and release Where Are You? as the next comeback, when really they should have built on the girl crush sound because it worked for them with international fans. They could have achieved a career like KARD (e.g. sustained by international touring). Another big screw up was losing La Vie En Rose and letting the producer sell it to IZ*ONE after the CLC girls had already prepared it as their comeback, which meant they had a long hiatus to find another song, making them even more forgotten to the public. 1

They will do better than Kep1er for sure ELZZUP is filled with stars The set up ! Nana is a nobody lol! Her buzz is not even similar to what Arin or Mijoo experienced during their Queendom season. And what International fans will Hwiseo brings when H1key song performed better in SK than Internationally? Kep1er are flops but this group is not going to sell more than 100k copies like let’s be realistic, otherwise they wouldn’t be there in the first place Edited August 15, 2023 by Adama

Reminder how Eunbin was literally TOP 10 of Produce 101 and secured to debut on IOI until CUBE decided to put her on CLC. She went from TOP 10 to dead last in a span of a week. Which didn't make any sense since her # of votes couldn't make her lend her out of the TOP 20. I think it's because the public and the producers thought it was unfair that Eunbin had a back up option to debut, but for the other girls in the show, it was their only chance of debut (that the public knew about anyway). So she got tanked in the rankings. CUBE was stupid for announcing that while she was still in the show, because it would have been better if she made it to I.O.I and then joined CLC later.

I always see people saying Cube did them dirty, but I don't know exactly what. They used to have regular comebacks anually with a high-quality discography (at least for me) and some catchy and appealing title tracks and concepts. The girls are talented and some of them seem to have the star quality to stand out. The only thing that comes to my mind is the lack of artistic direction as they used to change drastically from one comeback to another frequently. But I can't say to which extent it can be bad. I hope you are ready cause it's a long one: They had no artistic directions or directors to be in for them (basically the director that created the group was no longer in the company months after which made them switch team every few months until disbandment), no real fans interaction, if they wanted a concert or anything (Sorn and Elkie paid for their Taiwan and Thailand concert which are unofficial ones since it wasn't made or promoted by CUBE) their only concert being a charity event (for real), all their overseas trip and promotions was always from the girls pocket (Sorn and Seungyeon revealed it), they had no merch (most of the merch they had was unofficial ones made by the girls, Sorn even complained once on her YouTube page, and Yeeun begged their staffs for it too before the CUBE Concert), let's not talk about Lightstick (which they had a design created by Yujin but never created) or fan pages or fancams (CLC being the group that the company banned all the fans to upload any fancams, music sources or fan pics from to any social media, back in their debut days until High Heels maybe, the their fancams were constantly taken down for copyright infrigment or had No music attached to it, their fan pages were constantly being reported and taken down), The album restock (which is exactly what (G)I-DLE and PENTAGON fans are suffering right now, their albums once going out of stock will never be re-stocked ever). Now the only good thing was their comeback being made once a year, well according to Elkie, the company was obligated to make them release music at least once a year, it was written on their contract. 2

I can see where you are coming from. I remember when they dropped Hobgoblin in 2017, It gained a lot of attention internationally. It was the era I started to follow them casually and listening to their music too. And I agree with you "Where Are You" is not a good follow-up. I mean, quality-wise, It's citypop perfection, but definitely not what the people who were interested in them for Hobgoblin were waiting. Maybe here was the biggest mistake. And now that you mentioned "bad luck" I remembered of another factor. They debuted in 2015. Same year TWICE debuted, GFRIEND was getting a viral hit and Red Velvet and Mamamoo gaining traction with the GP. There were too many fresh ggs to divide attention with during their rookie years. (G)I-DLE had a different path and were luckier. They were the only relevent GG debuting in 2018 apart from IZ*ONE who only debuted when IDLE already had 2 popular songs and had music shows wins for both. Unfortunately, rookie years are extremely important for girlgroups to build a reputation. 1

Thank you for taking your time to explaining me all this, I had no idea. All these unfortune events definitely have an influence on what they were unable to build a bigger and loyal fanbase and gaining traction with the general public. I mean, It's hard to connect with who you aren't seeing.

Unfortunately, rookie years are extremely important for girlgroups to build a reputation. Good points! When they debuted they were doing a cute concept, but were up against GFriend, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl etc. It was a very tough time to compete in that kind of concept and CLC kinda got lost in the crowd which affected their debut. Hobgoblin was also difficult because it came right after 4Minute disbanded. And because it sounded like a 4Minute song (because HyunA helped with the creative direction for that comeback), their fans assumed CUBE was trying to replace them with CLC and they got a lot of hate. There were many incidents like that where the comeback timing was just really unfortunate. Another was Black Dress, which was great, but got overshadowed by (G)I-DLE debut shortly after. It's a pity because the girls are talented, they deserved more. 2

Uni.T losing to UNB (which they didn't stand a single chance) but really was managed by KKS is the real reason why they flop, like what had he successfully managed post T-ARA scandal except of not going to jail?
