But then who would think that songs like Dynamite, Butter or PTD are the best songs that would do well with the current US audience?

Honeslty most of Kpop groups US singles are bad and too differents from the sounds that made them popular in the first place (BP with Ice cream, Bet you wanna, Aespa with LTS, Itzy, BTS). 
I think the only group that did a English release similar than their og sound is Twice with The feels

2023 in K-pop has been so interesting! Wonyoung is such an icon, Aespa and LSRF serving quality, ITZY being mismanaged to hell and back, BLACKPINK renewals, NMIXX idek whats happening to them, SKZ going for global domination. I fear if BTS hides for too long SKZ will have too much momentum they'll start competing  the mass buying will be crazy

If NewJeans has an edge against BLACKPINK its that all of them sound very nice vocally and have similar timbre love my girl Jisoo but she is consistently always the worst parts of all their singles. Sure, Hanni has that avocaedoers r&b tone going and Minji is darker toned than the rest of them but to any average listener you can play the entire Get Up EP and not know the difference between who is singing, Danielle, Hyein and Haerin especially because all 3 of them sound very smooth and feminine. 

 

If Get Up is the tone of their next release I fear for BLACKPINKs top spot. A SZAfied NewJeans would EAT the global charts so hard.

I just know a MICE isn't complaining about rankings when they were literally the ones doing rankings constantly and bragged about how aespa were the 4th gen leaders back in 2021, and how much they were bigger than ITZY etc., like stop being salty and be sweet instead.mp3  Be glad that I didn't lump them together with ITZY

and we still brag in 2023 too The only way itzy gets brought up is when they're tanking, their comeback is horrible or when aespa is used to promote them so go ahead, who cares atp

In an ideal world, SM would be competent and make Aespa release more and give Aespa r&b pop bangers for the West, not whatever the hell Swedish writing camp ITZYfied trash they have cooking. I don't really love their title tracks maybe bc I'm older but the noisy SM title track style no longer works for me, but their album tracks are always *chefs kiss*!

 

Thirsty or Salty and Sweet would be a better English track, SM's marketing team is terrible with market research wtf  Give them hardcore English lessons and push Ningning WAY harder than they do, that woman is the Lisa but can sing of the group and I'm not hearing it from the kariN/A stans.

 

Speaking of amazing Westernized songs, NJ may be a cutesy girlgroup but among all of them, more than even BLACKPINK, they have the most Westernized sound. K-pop labels have this reductive idea that ratatata bass drops are defining traits of Western pop (maybe in 2012 ) but nowadays, NewJeans discography, put on rotation in your average Top 40 playlist would not be out of place at all.

 

Aespa needs to switch up this hyperpop image if their label ever expects them to crack the West the way NewJeans did. Still love them lots tho my girl Ningning the main slayer!

Not to detract from your point, but I absolutely hate when Kyungsoo is compared to Bieber. I know Kyungsoo likes that man, but I’m offended for him.
