Some subunits I've thought of with concept descriptions:
 

Subunit 1: "Velvet Blink"

Members: Wendy (Red Velvet), Rosé (BLACKPINK), and Tzuyu (TWICE)

Concept: A mature, sultry, and powerful subunit that combines the vocal prowess of Wendy and Rosé with the visual appeal of Tzuyu. Known for their smooth harmonies, emotional performances, and captivating stage presence, "Velvet Blink" delivers a fusion of R&B, pop, and ballad genres, showcasing their rich vocals and captivating performances.

 

Subunit 2: "BlackVelvet"

Members: Jennie (BLACKPINK), Irene (Red Velvet), and Momo (TWICE)

Concept: A fierce and edgy subunit that combines the powerful rap skills of Jennie, the mesmerizing visuals of Irene, and the electrifying dance performances of Momo. Known for their bold and charismatic presence on stage, "BlackVelvet" delivers a fusion of hip-hop, trap, and EDM genres, showcasing their fierce rapping, captivating vocals, and outstanding dancing skills.

I think we can all agree that bts are flopping because their not that well known/recognized indivually. I think NCT has the same problem. Might have to do with the size of both groups as much as their lack of solo gigs.

 

Do y'all think the new SM boy group is going to out do NCT and become the next EXO because they won't have the NCT label holding them down?

Pharita, chiquita, asa and ahyeon probably going to be the final members,  if they want to limit thai member only one then pharita will not make it and the spot goes to rora, or maybe then will debut them as 5 but i doubt it..

the issue with bts is they were never really promoted individually and were always promoted as a group. they also weirdly have the opposite problem of most kpop groups and have way more group stans and not many solo stans, like compare them to blackpink who have a lot of solo stans/akgaes. bts having 7 members doesn't really affect their popularity honestly especially when exo have 9 members and their members are recognisable individually. nct having 23 members massively affects individual popularity honestly except for the most popular members. in the past year a lot of nct members have had solo gigs while the bts members never had that before their hiatus, also there's a lot of nct solo stans/akgaes unlike bts. i do fear what's happening with bts could happen with the nct dream members besides mark and haechan because a lot of dream unit stans heavily stan dream as a 7 member group and now even sm promotes the whole 7dream thing. 

 

i highly doubt smnbg will became the next exo in that sense but if they have a smaller amount of members (5 members like shinee, tvxq and h.o.t) they could all have strong individual popularity in a few years.

honestly it would be so hard to drop any of them and choose and focus only on 2 of them, BM has really strong lineup and if YG will reinvent their sound in a right way I see them hitting big and competing with IVE and NJ

You've made some points. Honestly I think the era of big groups are over because even in Korea i feel like stans want a closer connection to a group wich is hindered when you're still trying to remember half of the group.
