Do correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware, the first picture was just part of the photoshoot. Sadly, I don't think it was ever announced as a potential album cover, but simply shared alongside other shots to expand on the aesthetic of the era.

It's a shame regardless, because it would have made for a killer album cover and fits much better with the Heaven vs. Hell duality in comparison to the rather bland edit we got.

I remember hearing from some Ava fans that the original album cover was part of the final CD booklet (supposedly Ava herself confirmed it), however I'm not sure which picture they were referring to. Nonetheless, the other pictures look so much better as than the one that was chosen.

Britney's debut album had different cover planned:

Secondary, 4 of 5

It was used in Taiwan as a limited edition version cover:

Primary

However, I personally think the final international cover was a good choice (not a fan for the U.S. version I'm afraid). The original cover isn't bad at all but the change was a good choice imo.

i always preferred the international cover (it's also the one i remember from growing up). when i found out about the us cover i thought it looked incredibly tacky and childish (i still do) :ducky:

they should give the international album cover a vinyl pressing, it would look great on a gatefold!

on another note does anyone know why they flip-flopped with gaga's the fame album cover? according to discogs they used the blue cover first, then they used the red font for the US-cover (and the vinyl pressing) and then went back to the blue font lol? all the vinyl pressings that came after (even urban outfitter's dish water coloured and the different blue pressings (:rip:) kept the red font?)

tinashe’s aquarius cover change was such a downgrade. RCA’s only correct decision tbh

Not really. They’re both fine, but Tinashe’s version is much more TINASHE than RCA’s choice.

I think originally the vinyl release was *only* released in the U.S. so they used the red font. After that, every vinyl pressing, no matter the country, just used the 2008 U.S. version as its template. The European vinyl pressings even use the U.S. tracklist despite some differences on CD/Digital versions.

Not sure why the red was chosen in the first place though for the U.S. :emofish: Maybe it was to differentiate the domestic version from the import copies that people could already buy from Canada and Australia?

It looks like the Singapore version of the The Fame Monster 2xCD also used the red font for the The Fame cover: https://www.discogs.com/release/11844478-Lady-Gaga-The-Fame-Monster , which is strange because the standard Fame release in Singapore release had the blue font like most countries. Who decides all of these design choices? :rip:

Probably.

In the early/first edition of The Fame (Canadian/Australian), Money Honey had a longer intro and LoveGame had a different outro compared to the US/final edition. Maybe that's why they changed it.

Couldn't agree more. The international cover gives a youthful teen-pop aura while not coming across as tacky and borderline creepy like the US one does (really dislike the original concept too for similar reasons). It's also so charming and aesthetically pleasing in its simplicity, perfectly capturing Britney Spears during that era.

Honestly, not only this cover deserves a vinyl pressing, but it should also be included on streaming services for an eventual anniversary edition of the album.

It was a considered album cover used on early versions of Heaven & Hell, though Ava made the switch at the last second which she has confirmed in interviews.
