Favorite/worst album cover switch

does anyone remember the HUGE backlash when Gaga announced the Born This Way album cover? 

And then she posted a new cover that was just a cropped part of the og cover?

I thought the deluxe cover is sooo much better.

I just watched from the sideline’s aghast at her audacity and gumption, from the textured single cover of Judas, to releasing it on Easter week, to the BTW cover. Whew. Funny would be the last way I describe that nightmare 💀💀💀

Madonna's first album was originally going to be called "Lucky Star" and had this cover:

 

However, it got changed to self-titled and had this MUCH better cover for the final release:

 

In Europe, the cover got changed in 1985 after the success of Like a Virgin and was titled "The First Album". The cover and title changed back to the original in 2001.

 

I think the 1983 released version is by far the best.

Things definitely worked out the way they were supposed to. The photo of her on the official “definitive” cover is one of, arguably her most, iconic photo.

Lucky Star was not necessarily bad... but isn't as timeless as the Madonna cover.

I don't know what I prefer, because I like to see Charlie on the bed, he looks good there, but Digital's is actually very gooood and feels more like an album cover.

Do correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware, the first picture was just part of the photoshoot. Sadly, I don't think it was ever announced as a potential album cover, but simply shared alongside other shots to expand on the aesthetic of the era.

 

It's a shame regardless, because it would have made for a killer album cover and fits much better with the Heaven vs. Hell duality in comparison to the rather bland edit we got.
