Is winning an Oscar the pinnacle of success/acclaim ?

Oscars= The most important and prestigious award there is, not even a Grammy award compares to it.
Is this why every Pop Star is obsessed with winning an Oscar?

Not really, do you know how many people are successful and acclaimed without an Oscar? Plus the film industry is not the “most respected” industry for the general public, in fact most middle Americans hate Hollywood :deadbanana:

For an acting role yes. I think the true pinnacle of success and acclaim is still being hot 10 years in the game, leaving behind a well respected veteran legacy, being an example for new actors / musicians, having millions of devoted fans around the world. awards are politics most of the time

A packed stadium going to see you > a bunch of biased white hollywood men giving an award.

That to me is the pinacle of success. Acclaim comes from the people not a select group.

In the US, the Kennedy Center Honors and Presidential Medal of Freedom are probably the most prestigious

It is the biggest among awards that being said it can be bought easily. See Harvey Weinstein's production company

But it's not because there's no pinnacle. Acclaim has to come from different fronts otherwhise is all smoke and mirrors

It is A pinnacle of success, sure. But not "the"

Of course. Especially if you are already a successful muscian. It's incredibily rare to be both a successful musician(stadium tour status) and a successful and acclaimed actor. Cher did it but the time wasn't right for her to manage both unfortunately.

It's not the pinnacle, but its imo the most iconic award of all the entertainment busienss awards... it just has that cultural cache (probably because Hollywood is in charge of much of America's culture and it the Hollywod award).

As for prestige, I'd say something like the Nobel Prize has more prestige and imprtance, as well as the more iconic when you want to denote an overal huge achievement.

No, and especially not for the weakest category of Best Original Song. Even in the film buff circles it's long been joked about that the Oscars award mediocrity.
