An overrated overactress who never deserved Oscar nominations or wins.

Applies to more than just Jennifer Lawrence.

Is Hunger Games even an action movie? I mean it has action elements for sure (as every blockbuster movie has) but i see it more like a dystopian drama fantasy.

But it's not the full action movie (Die hard, Salt) and so on. Even harry potter movies have fights and actions sequences. I wouldn't call them action movies.

This is what people are missing from this. All the movies that were posted here are very different from THG. They are either very masculine action films where the female is overtly sexualized and violent, or the regular final girl horror film.

THG put female empowerment in a much more fresh and nounced context, and it had a lot of romantic elements. It was a female lead written by and for other women, while other female leads were always written from a male gaze.

Not to mention the film being primarily targeted to young adults, there was no footprint of that in Hollywood at the time.

the way this went over everyone's head .. i think she's intelligent enough to know there were female-led action movies before her (as she's already clarified in her statement). ppl will just drag her for anything :rip:

She was literally talking in hyperbole about what studio execs *told* her in regards to *YA* action franchises (“girls and boys,” not Angelina Jolie and Alien movies lmao) to lead up to the importance of TWK’s strength as a black female led action blockbuster this year. She herself doesn’t believe that she was the first overall female action star (the fact that she had to release a statement clarifying this is ridiculous). At worst, she fumbled up her delivery but ATRL having the same reading comprehension and click bait as the incels and far right republicans pushing this makes sense. Edited by Lawssance
