I mean what was black widow beside a sexy secretary who was the side character in her own story? Look at how iron man was mourned versus her, her personality was being hot and the marvel fans barely cared for her legacy when her character died

and unfortunately all the other female characters either swung too much in the other direction (captain marvel) or were minor (captain Britain or whoever she’s called)

 

wanda actually has a fan base, a fleshed out back story, and appeals to both genders equally which is rare for Marvel. Plus Elisabeth is queenie

The lead movie being a jumpstarter for her successor + she was only the female face because she was literally the only female Avenger  If she was still around Wanda would still be the most popular.
