MadonnasBoyfriend Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Ifyou're happy living like this, you may be in "goblin mode." denozy/iStockphoto/Getty Images CNN — As you read this, look around. Are you still in bed? Are there piles of clothes and takeout food boxes strewn across the floor? Do you have chip crumbs on your sheets? Have you broken your self-care routine more times than you can count? Do you not even care? If so, you might already be in “goblin mode” – chosen by the public as the 2022 Oxford word of the year. According to Oxford University Press (OUP), publishers behind the Oxford English Dictionary, the slang term refers to a type of behavior which is “unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations” – traits that may have become familiar to many during lockdown. Social media can portray idealized versions of self-improvement, from waking at 5 a.m. and drinking a green smoothie, to keeping a journal, exercising and planning your weekly meal prep. That era may be on the way out. In its place is goblin mode – the opposite of trying to better yourself. The rise of ‘goblin mode’ “Seemingly, it captured the prevailing mood of individuals who rejected the idea of returning to ‘normal life’, or rebelled against the increasingly unattainable aesthetic standards and unsustainable lifestyles exhibited on social media.” The term’s popularity may also be linked to the growth of new social media sites like BeReal, where users are invited once a day at random to post a photo of whatever they’re doing. Goodbye carefully curated social media feeds. Hello goblin mode. The release gives examples of examples of when the term has been used. Among the most vivid was quoted in The Guardian: “Goblin mode is like when you wake up at 2am and shuffle into the kitchen wearing nothing but a long t-shirt to make a weird snack, like melted cheese on saltines.” “People are embracing their inner goblin, and voters choosing ‘goblin mode’ as the Word of the Year tells us the concept is likely here to stay,” added Grathwohl. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/05/world/oxford-word-goblin-mode-2022-intl-scli-wellness/index.html?utm_source=fbCNN&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2022-12-05T18%3A00%3A24&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR2LAMQBuiRy_HOIKGl9n-pV7mswypfAInhuLzvNYA7PIg83XobVBnDd5LU Well?
VVVVVV Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Half goblin mode. I would love to be really proactive and have many routines, be really workaholic. At least i have my bedroom in order. I have my first job in the pandemic, i stop working in the summer of this year, i have not find a new job (to late the year have ended), and i am strugling with what i want to do with my life, i am having bad performance in college and want to change career. I have not talked to my friends since the summer, i am kind of insolated. I dont have the best routine, dont work out, or anything at all, everthing depend of the day. But is not a completely goblin mode.
Lost In Paradise Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 single straight men are so unwell on average...praying for them
pixie_dust Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 When I'm depressed, yes. Also lmao at the term
EnigmaticAndroid Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I did quite a bit during the pandemic, but have been better about my habits for a while now. I'm not perfect by any means but refuse to live like a complete pig. Ngl hermit mode is pretty fun tho
Nano Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 That article just seems like a longer way to say people are becoming more depressed.

Bubble Tea Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 No I cleaned my bathroom and went for a run while WFH. The slay.
katara Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Aren't most single people (yes even women) like this? Having worked in service and having lived in shared apartments during my studies taught me that most people are way more untidy and messy than you would think.
P!NK2LOVE Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I’m single and my whole life revolves around my routine, I pride myself on being NEAT and TIDY when I can. Some people that are coupled are messy asf, why are there so many generalisations with everything these days
IBeMe Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 No but i do have a bad habit of leaving my clothes on the floor in my bedroom. I stopped doing that more recently after i took a selfie for a guy im starting to see and he asked if i normally leave clothes on the floor (mind you i only had like a shirt on the floor and some socks and i totally forgot they were there lool). I lied and said i dont do that usually and since then i have been whipped into place and i no longer do that lol.
