Individual risk assessments should've been the standard from default. More archaic requirements being removed is a boon in my eyes and I can't really complain other than the fact it took so long.

I refuse to believe there is a shortage until the FDA removes the ban.  The straights would not maintain homophobia if there was actually a risk of no blood in the blood banks.  
 

But, that’s ok.  I’ll just keep my Type O blood.

I used to donate a lot before I went on accutane and then I couldn’t donate for a long time. I should sign up again I think I’m eligible now. The sex with other men question always seemed dumb to me, they test all blood for HIV anyway… And it’s not like it’s the 80’s anymore

Unfortunately, gay men not being allowed to donate blood is quite common all over the globe, even in western countries.

 

Queer people were only allowed to donate in my south american country very recently.
