Alyssa Edwards Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) Birder(2024) Quite a sexy genre movie. Β Big spoilers ahead : Β Spoiler The killings were laughable, the acting was mid, a couple obvious prosthetics but also real d**ks... If you're going in for the sexy vibes only, you might be satisfied, if you're looking for a great thriller you won't find it here. Overall I found it fine and it went by quickly. It ain't touching Stranger By The Lake tho. Edited August 20 by Alyssa Edwards pic didn't work
Alyssa Edwards Posted August 6 Posted August 6 A Floresta dos Sussurros/Behind The Trees(2023) Β Spoiler I was waiting for this one ! I've seen Thiago's other stuff and this is easily his best work. And it is easy because he makes obviously bad films that are simply guilty pleasures. The acting is bad as usual, it has the usual cringe "funny" scenes that he goes for but the music is better, the story is extremely clichΓ© but also grips you. It even ended up being kind of moving by the end ! Β I also belive it will satisfy the horny girls that are into his kinky films too

Alyssa Edwards Posted August 20 Posted August 20 (edited) Bonus Track(2023) Β Cute-ish in parts i guess but very light. Most interesting thing about it is that it was written by Josh O'Connor. Β Β Bizarre(2015) Β Useless, no story, boring, very annoying (everytime i saw that Luka person i wanted the f** off my tv i'm not watching THAT) and empty characters, a waste of time. Alyssa Edwards Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Will You Look At Me(2022) (Short-film) Β Spoiler As insanely beautiful as it is heartbreaking and upsetting. Close to perfection. Β Spoiler I can't stand that ignorant ass mother though. A victim of chinese society norms i know but damn girl ????? 1
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted September 2 Author ATRL Moderator Posted September 2 And now why did y'all tell me to watch Fireworks? Β Β Spoiler I don't mind a sad story/ending at all, but that pacing was NOT it. The end was SO abrupt, and the way it literally faded to black immediately made the ending kind of cheap, like it was only about shock factor. Β There were a lot of beautiful shots and the acting was mostly good (I do think the acting from the Shawn Mendes twink was a little weird at times, like he just smiled too much and seemed kind of daft), but I'm just disappointed by the framing of the end. I know it's loosely based on a true story (it's radically different in many ways), but I wish they had just actually stuck to the real life story instead of this version, so that the end would feel a bit more natural.
Bubble Tea Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Β Watched this (Monsoon) last week and it was a very touching film. Not really terribly LGBT+ but enough so to meaningfully affect the story. 1
PopMusicJunkie Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Β I watched this movie and I guess I was supposed to root for Gabriel (Billy Porter) against Nicky (Luke Evans)? Β That didn't happen. Β Β The reason for their divorce was so forced, with every little thing made into a big deal, and it didn't help I simply couldn't believe these two were in love for 13 years. Β (I mainly blame that on Porter's acting choices, tbh, he had a stank face throughout the movie). Β
JonnyCat Posted September 9 Posted September 9 (edited) Been watching a series called Single, Out. It's from the director of the movie Monster Pies. It's decent enough and the eye candy helps. lol Each episode is about 20 minutes and there are 6/7 episodes per season. A release date for S3 hasn't been announced yet and they recently finished filming the 4th/final season. Gonna check out Sugar Highs and Big Boys (the series, not the movie lol) next. Β Spoiler "Did I do something wrong?" OmgΒ Β She did come across as harsh in parts, it must be a lot of weight on her shoulders in regard to Chinese society and how highly they must value that. I'm from the UK and even I can see how hard it could be on her. Their culture is something else, different and not as accepting. Not saying I agree with her reactions. Ofc anyone would be like "that's your child, you should love them no matter what" and so on. She must clearly love him if she still talks to him, I just think their perception of LGBT+ is something else and judging from what she says, they probably see it as something they caused raising the child. I don't know, but it's all so sad. Β I can relate, as my grandma isn't accepting of me. I recently opened up to her because I was sick of her telling me to find a girl and settle down, andΒ her response was she would never be happy for me if I got a boyfriend/husband. I told her that's the only way it will be. She loves me but isn't prepared to face who I am. She will live in her delusions, she hasn't asked about a girl since this conversation. Β 1
Alyssa Edwards Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) JosΓ©(2018) Β Spoiler It has good and bad aspects, i like that the movie kind of takes it's time but it's not fully realized to me. Still has a few good moments. Β Spoiler Also i was stressed the whole way thinking something tragic was going to happen to the lead but it never did so i'm happy about that.
