last year she answered me on a livestream saying the B sides was coming in December/January

i need her to set a release date bc with this being a trilogy i don’t want long waits between albums

also yall, this version of Vacancy HITS

I hope she releases Vacancy someday it’s an incredible song

i worry that all this new momentum might put a halt on the b-sides project tho, if she's actually blowing up the way she seems to be then her team probably don't want a b-side album to be her next official release :/ but having said that she's touring like crazy rn so she's probably not going to be putting out another actual album any time soon...

nevermind i just realised they can just release a pd 'deluxe' version w all the promised b-sides and do even more press that way, problem solved lmao

She basically confirmed that Preacher's Wife isn't coming anytime soon and it will take her 2-3 years to write/record it, but she'll have other projects in-between (I do remember her saying that we'll be getting another project with a new character/story to fulfill her contract with RX before PW but she deleted the post :skull:)

The b-sides EP is definitely still happening and she just said that she's trying to put it out by the end of this year in her latest interview. She also mentioned the book (and film) again so the Ethel universe won't be ending for another 20 years or so :skull:

Excellence takes time! (Except in Sky's case)

I'm fine with it as long as we get music between PD and PW

Damn I appreciate the dedication, but i do have to wonder how many people will even be here for preacher's wife when it drops :noparty: and then preacher's mother too? (or mother in law? I forget which)

But i love ethel's EPs too so as long as there's new music coming i'm not complaining

Is Preacher's Wife the official title of her next record? Or is it just a placeholder?

Also I suppose PD physicals are never coming :dancehall:

I listened to her album yesterday after Gibson Girl randomly came up on Spotify autoplay and wow I'm blown away. I think Ptolemaea is one of the best songs I've ever heard and I don't think I want to listen to it again. :skull: It made me so uneasy and disturbed. I don't remember when was the last time a song made me feel that way. Such an intense song. Reading the lyrics of the album, knowing she wrote and produced it mostly by herself is very impressive.

saw her live last night in manchester !

my thoughts as a diehard stan:

wasn’t unenjoyable per sè, im glad i went.

but 1. i feel like when she’s performing, she’s performing as Hayden . that’s not what i or anybody else came for, we came for Ethel Cain . there needs to be more of a concept in the performances or she needs to dig deeper into taking on the Ethel cain persona in her performances, because when she was up there it seemed more like Hayden covering Ethel’s songs if that makes sense 💀

2. it seemed like she just wanted it to be over with asap ? the opening act started at 7:30 and lasted until 9, Ethel was on until 10. the opening act literally was on for considerably longer than her, and when she came on there was no time between songs, no talking or crowd hyping or anything it was just song after song after song then she said ‘goodnight!’ and left .. it honestly just felt like she was rushing to get it over with :/

those seem like v negative thoughts so i will add that i did love the concert and i had a great time! oh just remembered she didn’t perform Ptolmea which I thought was a bummer.

I saw her live in Sydney, and you may have a point about the characterisation potentially enhancing the performance, but it didn’t really dampen my experience at all. I was really mesmerised by her drummer’s talent & her vocal delivery tbh. And it was just her, a drummer, a guitarist & lighting.

I’m sorry that that was your experience, as she interacted with the crowd so much at mine & it was an intimate venue. She responded to the crowd, made jokes about playing Zelda, she said “sorry” jokingly when someone yelled “you made me cry b!tch” lol, went right up to the front rows and caressed faces & sang some verses pretty much nose to nose with fans, and even came back out for an encore.

Maybe she wasn’t feeling well?

In other news, I’m so intrigued by her saying the next album is “darker” and “colder”, I have no idea how she’s going to pull off an even more grim theme, but I’m hype!

Saw her yesterday in Lisbon and, wow, what a show. :jonny:

She sounded amazing and even brought out Florence for Thoroughfare. And American Teenager was obviously a MOMENT. :WAP: I was hyping her up to my friends and they were all blown away.

Also, right after she came out during Florence's set later that night, some guy next to me was checking her Wikipedia page ghghfghf

I was also at Manchester and... this is not true. :rip: She introduced and spoke about her band, spoke about the opening act, said how Sun Bleached Flies was her favourite, etc.

I was surprised how short the setlist was as well. I saw her support boygenius the week before and it was the exact same. Still amazing though.

The setlist itself looks pretty short but the songs are long and she doesn't cut any of them so it's fine all things considered imo. The lack of Strangers on her setlists however is a crime honestly. I would say I hope she replaces one of the songs she performs with it but I love all of them. One more song wouldn't hurt sis. :chick3: The tour is being done on a budget. I'm sure her future shows will be longer and have better setups.

Also, I'm kinda obsessed with Dying Star :gaycat7:

she was saying things but not in a way that was engaging or hyping or anything of the sort :rip: i don’t rly count ‘*song ends*  ‘this next one is my favourite’ *song starts* as at all engaging or anything tbh. when i saw Lana years ago she was taking the time between songs to talk about the city and what some of the songs meant to her and how the tour had been so far etc. i talked abt it with other ppl outside the venue and they brought up too that she seemed like she just wanted it over and done with

and yeah other ppl outside the venue were saying they were disappointed she didn’t do any Golden Age era stuff. i personally don’t mind but a couple more songs from PD or even a cover would’ve been a great addition

You know, I still wait at the edge of town
Praying straight to God that maybe you'll come back around
I cry every day and the bottles make it worse
'Cause you were the only one I was never scared to tell I hurt

atrl-sebs123.gif

And I found photographs of our school, on the day we met
I thought that you were so beautiful, it was love, I guess
And you might never come back home, and I may never sleep at night
But God, I just hope you're doing fine out there, I just pray that you're alright
