Why do Drake and Taylor constantly release yet she smashes harder and harder?

Drake and Taylor have become omnipresent in the release cycles of their musical works. Both have released 3 studio albums within this decade with a sprinkling of rerecordings and single droplets along the way.

However, with Drake it seems like the more he releases his numbers become stagnated and even decline at times while with Taylor she only grows stronger and stronger to the point that not even Drake himself can compete with her in his (and her) home market North America while Taylor effortlessly destroys in other non Anglo markets.

Is it because Drake's rollouts almost all seem samey and blend to the point that the GP are getting tired while Taylor always has a unique brand to each of her eras bar folkmore? (which had evermore acting as an extension to folklore)

I think there's different reasons. For one, I think people appreciated the fact that Taylor switched it up genre-wise. folklore/evermore sound nothing like Fearless TV, which sounds nothing like Red TV. Midnights also benefitted from being her first return to full-on pop since Lover, after a time of her doing/pushing slower songs with folkevermore and ATW10min.

There's also the fact that she has a much, much bigger pool to reach. Drake is largely local to North America, whereas Taylor's global popularity is often downplayed here. The fact that Asian markets slowly but surely are using Spotify more and more heavily helps her daily streams.

Taylor is better. Drake has been releasing the same thing for awhile now.  Drake will always be Jimmy from Degrassi

Because Taylor releases quality music that makes people want more. Hair Loss is Drake's first project in a while to resonate with a good portion of his casual listeners. Taylor's catalog also gets bigger and bigger while Drake's stagnated

Taylor

#1 - Midnights

#20 - folklore

#21 - Red TV

There was once a time when Drake's catalog was unmatched. While he's still doing well, he's falling behind

Taylor had a fanbase that actually bought her music from the start (Drake was doing well but he pretty much abandoned this, or rather, hip hop audiences were always more keen to stream and Drake just adopted that entirely)

Fans that buy are a lot more loyal than fans that don’t. They’ve expressed their willingness to spend money on you. That goes a long way for a long time.

Taylor continues to make interesting, exciting, and relatable music and evolves while Drake just makes the same sort of record over and over and over when he should be making porn.

In my opinion in an alternate universe post-Scorpion, Drake should've embraced the Views/Passionfruit sound way more and cultivated a niche city girl/female fanbase that would've ATE his music up. A female driven fanbase would DO wonders for his exposure, touring power and sales numbers while maintaining his sad boy male fanbase, he would still not let Taylor breathe to this day.

Drake has released way too often the same old same old that its hurt his existing core base, he should've gone the Nice For What sound more tbh, he attracted a lot of female listeners with the Scorpion era.

Taylor is a master marketer.  Each of her albums and releases has a purpose and narrative to make it a moment.

The quality of Drake's music has declined so much, Taylor's music just keeps improving.

Drake is still ahead of her by miles in the decade building ranking chart due to his success on the Hot 100:turkey:

I don't live in the states but I think Drake is played every day on Radio and Taylor not. Maybe the GP doesn't realize he released a new album.

Not really most pop stars could play that game and release music each quarter but wouldn't see the same success or would know a decline in numbers.

How do you know? Streaming has different rules. It's kinda logical that when u release an album your streaming numbers go uppp

For example, Britney hasn't released an album since 2016 and her streaming isn't good, her playlisting sucks. She has potential tho, imagine her releasing 6 new albums within 3 years like Taylor... She would be massive.

Yeah sure streaming numbers goes up when artists release albums but they don’t reach the heights of Taylor, Drake or bad bunny. For example Beyoncé just released an album but she’s not in the top 10 most streamed female artists. While Rihanna hadn’t put out any music in 6 years and yet she’s in the top 10.

Britney wouldn’t be massive if she released 6 new albums. Taylor sold albums pretty decently before she successfully transitioned into streaming while Britney last commercially successful album was femme fatale. Which shows that Taylor still has demand for new music while Britney’s demand was exhausted by 2012. Also what didn’t help is that she put out 2 horrible albums that flopped and tarnished her reputation in pop music.

Plus Britney style of pop star was left in the past, the demand has switched to different style of pop and celebrities that are more involved in what they do.
