Gorgeous Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 For me the cold weather being back is like one of the biggest themes of Christmas, I just could not picture AT ALL celebrating Christmas in June, it would feel like the most anticlimactic thing ever. I'v just seen some Australian bloggers decorate their house with themes of coziness and even some ornaments had snowflakes decorations, even though for them Christmas is basically a summer celebration.
Clauss Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 Christimas is magic, and does not depends if it is hot or snowing We just live everything backwards. The best films (with best = blockbuster) are released in norther hemisphere summer, but here I always remember going to the cinema in my winter vacations from school to see them in rainy or windy season
JustLikeHoney Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 In Puerto Rico it is heavily celebrated and we continue it until Three Kings Day in January. I mean the song Feliz Navidad was written by Jose Feliciano from Puerto Rico. We have our own musical genre that we only sing during Christmas called Trulla. We go from house to house singing Trulla instead of Christmas carols, it's called parranda.

Jotham Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I've never been to the Southern Hemisphere but I have celebrated Christmas many times in the Philippines where it's very hot because it's near the equator. Christmas is huge there and probably bigger there than anywhere else in the world so imo climate doesn't really have an effect on how festive Christmas can be.
BloodLuster Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I've spent the holidays in the southen a couple of times and I had a great time. NYE during the summertime is the BOMB
Robert Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Recently moved and it definitely feels different but there’s still lots of Christmas stuff and honestly I prefer it to the usual seasonal depression I get.
Kakihara Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 We're not in the SH but close, regardless we are always very festive doesn't matter if we're sweating. Most our streets and parks are already decorated.
Ash12345 Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Seeing Christmas decorations go up in Florida in November when I was there last year was so weird. My part of Canada doesn't even get a white Christmas half the time so I guess it's not that big of a deal if there's no snow. It just feels weird to see Christmas decor when you're walking around in shorts. It's supposed to be cold, that way you have an excuse for the hot drinks and turning on the fireplace. We did have a Christmas when it was like 15C in Toronto and it felt off even though I enjoyed the mild weather.

I've seen some houses in my neighbourhood celebrate it but it's really really rare. Literally no-one goes trick or treating. Not even in the rich suburbs
Bloodflowers. Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I wish I could go for a swim at the beach on Christmas

Not even in the rich suburbs A fair few people do in my area but also it’s a lot of young couples and children so that’s probably why. Although this year I didn’t have anyone
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 (edited) While TV channels from my country always play the usual Northern hemisphere Christmas movies, I could not really imagine myself celebrating Christmas on cold/freezing weather. To me, the beginning of summertime and the subsequent Christmas and New Years celebrations coincide with my Best of rankings, a time to remember while wearing summer clothes and sometimes spending time at the beach. Hot and sunny weather always cheers me up and adds an uplifting feeling to the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. Edited December 1, 2022 by Sunderland 4ever
KingJay Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I live in Florida, & every day it feels like the middle of summer (June,July & etc) so no. It doesn’t feel like Christmas.
