I gave Kim the benefit of the doubt for years. Sure, people can have different experiences professionally. Maybe her experience with Luke in the beginning planted a seed of doubt into Kesha's accusations. There's room for nuance in every situation.

 

It also didn't help that Kesha suffered from a few legal defeats in her claims against Luke, in the beginning.

 

However...

 

When evidence surfaces that contradicts everything you thought you knew... Evidence that's virtually impossible to ignore, then you really should step away from the situation.

 

After the news broke that Kesha did in fact report rape, several years prior to her 2011 testimony... That was more than enough confirmation for me.

 

Kim's subsequent doubling down and excuses after this news broke, as well as her signing with Luke... Caused me to lose all respect for her.

 

It's one thing to be ignorant of the situation when there's a lack of evidence and contradicting claims. It's a whole other thing to be faced blank in the face with evidence that contradicts things you were told... And then to double down and make excuses anyways.

 

It's unacceptable. And unfortunately, Kim's visibility as a trans woman makes the situation far worse. She really had the opportunity to be a huge role model, and an example of a trans person that contradicts all of the claims from far right conservatives about trans people. Her involvement in this situation basically spoils any credibility she has. It truly is a shame.

The SUPER intense power dynamics and HUGE egos in the industry make it a breeding ground for predatory behavior. Probably every person we all stan has knowingly enabled an abuser in some way. It’s honestly really heartbreaking, being in the industry sometimes, and knowing there’s some **** that doesn’t sit right with you but you gotta let it fly or you’re gonna put your career 10 years back (and accomplish nothing to make the industry a better place). I’m not saying it excuses Kim’s, Nicki’s, Saweetie’s or anyone else’s words, but geez it is f*cking difficult and scary on the ground out here. I personally believe Kesha AND love and support Kim, and though it seems like such a contradiction on the outside, I feel no moral conflict for supporting both of them. 
 

I personally would love to see some of the hate online redirected at the MEN who are CREATING these problems instead of at the women who are just trying to pursue their careers under impossible circumstances.

Hear hear. It's what makes me not care about what anyone says on this site, because it's not driven by any authentic desire to affect change and expose the MEN who are behind it all. She lost over and over and over. Dr. Luke has continued to work with and get several hits with multiple artists and ATRL has streamed most of his songs and made him even more rich. Somehow all of this translates to Kim Petras is a bad person and a rape apologist. Make it make sense.
