Repelex Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Hopefully the boxscores are revealed. The slay it'd be to have 15k/15k in London and Vienna. But I'm pretty sure that box office account on twitter cherry picks the worst ratios for her to post. Maybe it's an xtin stan.

crossbonezolo Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Why would anyone want to drop Feldmann or DTA is beyond me. It's the first time she's been happy with a team and a label and it shows. Feldmann did a stellar job on both Love Sux and Let Go, making both album sound fresh, current and 100% what Avril should sound in 2022/23. DTA resurrected her on radio and cemented her as a legend.

Ivan_brit Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Even if she broke up with Mod Sun she could still work with him or at least use songs if they work together.... that was not an issue with Derick they slip & still work togther for Goodbye Lullaby or Chad work with Avril at Head Above Water There's no way she will stop working anytine soon with Feldman she adores him.... Im fine with him, I Need AL8 to sound like Avalanche & Im A Mess, he produced both songs

Let Go was refreshed by someone hired by RCA I believe. That’s their tracks. They own that content. Feldman only produced the re record of Breakaway and he did a pretty bad job.
ProudLBS Posted February 27, 2023 Author Posted February 27, 2023 Feldmann is fantastic at making songs sound loud but not much else. I don’t think Avril can extract much more from him given his work on Mold’s albums, and Avril seems to have worked more with Travis this time around?

Just want to preface this as solely my opinion, and I totally understand why so many fans support Avril continuing to work with John. Love her, will always love her, and support her work! However, I couldn’t disagree more when it comes to John. Feldmann, and I voiced this prior to hearing LS, has a tendency of producing overly homogenous music for just about every artist he’s worked with. His credits for 5SOS, Panic!, Blink, and All Time Low (just to name a few) are among their most uninspired and generic material. While I appreciate Love Sux for what it is, I don’t think it ever sounded ‘fresh.’ To be fair, I don’t think the album or its writers had any intention of making it so. To me, it seemed fairly obvious that everyone involved was gunning to capitalize on the small pop/rock pop/punk resurgence, and designed some truly insipid songs to appeal to that market. And you know what, by and large, they did that well. Credit where credit is due, Love Sux doesn’t pretend to be anything that it isn’t. However, my biggest gripe with Feldmann is his incompetence producing Avril’s vocals. She is so clearly capable of giving some impressive vocal performances post Lyme. We heard them sporadically on HAW with tracks like I Fell in Love With the Devil, Birdie, HAW, Crush, etc. not to mention several live performances from the past few years. And yet, Feldmann has gone out of his way to layer, stack, and correct Avril’s vocals to the point of sterilization. She has never sounded so overtly processed. I mean self-titled and HAW have some questionable vocal takes for sure but nothing that sounds this flattened out. Maybe it’s just a me thing, and that’s okay. I’m happy to hear how much people have enjoyed her recent work. For me though, Avril’s voice has such character. I mean, I have a lot of love for her cadence, her natural vibrato, just about everything. It’s why I’m still a big fan. I feel like Feldmann has kind of squashed those quirks and characteristics in favor of an excessively clean product. All that being said, I’m over the moon that Avril seems so happy and inspired. Do I wish she would work with someone else? Absolutely. But can’t deny the joy I get from seeing her in her zone and creating so much content.

I agree with you. Those stans will always complain. On one hand, they praise Love Sux is one of her best albums for a while. On the other hand, they always complain about something. Like, what are you expecting from her? Her last hit was in 2011. Sure DTA isn't the best but it's the best option she can have.
