As expected, China has given a theatrical release to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. This is a big deal given the fact that China sidelined, during the pandemic, many Hollywood blockbuster films, specifically Disney-Marvel movies. However, the first Avatar was a big grosser in China. The sequel to the biggest-grossing movie of all time will hit China day and date on December 16.

This is a HUGE deal for the movie. The first Avatar grossed over 260M back in 2009 when Hollywood was barely releasing movies in China. This movie will not only debut in China, it will do so at the same time as the WW release

I'll take Marvel's directors criticizing China's evil inhuman treatment of ethnic minorities and getting banned because of it over James Cameroon being mad at Marvel for being more successful.
