Conseguite un problema honesto hermana por dios.  Who gives a sh*t if Bad Bunny's album was more successful, the Grammys (are supposed to) reward quality, not success. So idiotic, really. And just like everyone else on this thread has said, "Latin" doesn't stand for just Latin America.

Also it's not like the musical exchange between Spain/Portugal and Latin America hasn't been a thing basically since the beginning of time. You had singers like Rocío Durcal that were absolute phenomenoms and she was a spaniard, dare I say she was bigger there than she was ever in Spain. Julio Iglesias is another example, La Quinta Estación literally migrated to México and blew up there before they were a thing in Spain and many other examples. Just like virtually every latin america artist also has a huge following in Spain

The Latin Grammy Award is about aritsts that release albums in Spanish Portuguese or any other languages spoken in Latin American. It has nothing to do with their ethnicity. As if Shakira isn't whiter than Rosalia. If Taylor Swift released an album in Latin America that was in Spanish, she would be eligible for album of the year. That particular award wasn't about genres. That particular album was released as an alternative music. 

 

I don't think she should have won over Bad Bunny, but I don't care that she is eligible. It's an incredible album.

the awards name is definitely confusing, because they don't include all languages in latin america (like dutch, english, french etc) and so a lot of latino countries are excluded, they also don't include all latin languages (italian, romanian, french), they only award spanish and portugese music

 

so maybe they should change their name to Iberian Grammys or something to avoid confusion

I love bad bunny’s album and no doubt the album of the year in terms of popularity but in terms of production and sound engineering motomami is arguably better , either or deserved the album.

Why does Shakira's Arab side give her permission to sing urban music?  Girl Latin America is full of cultures that not only killed off all the black people but all the indigenous people in their country. Let's not pretend all Latin people are a mixture of races and let's not pretend that Shakira's Latina side isn't all white European. She isn't exactly mestizo or of African decent.  Some countries are purely Spanish and super racist. I mean I could replace her with J Balvin. He grew up as an upper middle class white man and now he sings about "barrios." If you all are ok with him and Shakira singing urban music why not Rosalia. 

 

My point is that this not a real thing because their is no race involved. White people like Balvin can sing it so can white people like Rosalia.
