What I don’t really understand, is that why would this small ass country that is already R I C H want the World Cup so badly? Like legitimately what’s the point :skull: like even the branding reason doesn’t make any sense. Y’all rich who cares about branding when y’all RICH :skull:

I caught a glimpse of Senegal vs. Netherlands. The stadium looked remarkably empty for the world's biggest sports tournament. Serving COVID-19-era games.

Dick measuring contest with other oil-rich Arab kingdoms. People like to feel pompous and important. "Look, we managed to get the World Cup". And then they get to hangout with athletes, models, singers etc all the fanfare the World Cup brings.

The kii is that they're so bad at playing football they already got humiliated.

This is not new for Qatar, they have been buying major competitions in a lot of sports recently.  Since 2018 in gymnastics, they've hosted a World Championships, 3 World Cups, and a Continental Championships that I can think of off hand.
