5 years ago today, Luis Fonsi & Demi Lovato released their spanglish latin pop collaboration ''Échame La Culpa'' as his follow-up single to the defining mega smash hit of 2017 ''Despacito'' and as the second one overall from his album 'Vida'.

The song reached #1 in 18 countries (Austria, Lebanon, Slovenia, Mexico, Spain, Romania, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) and the top 10 in many other places such as Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, etc...

In the Anglosphere, the song saw moderate but less success compared to the rest of world with peaks of #47 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US), #46 in the UK, #35 on the Canadian Hot 100, #80 in Australia, etc.

''Échamé La Culpa'' has reached the Diamond certification in Brazil, France and Mexico. In the US, it's been so far 3x Platinum per Latin certifications.

The music video accumulated 17.4M views in its 24 hours on YouTube. Till this day it has over 2.2B views on the platform.

The way this could've SMASHED so hard in English speaking countries but Fonsi's team never sent the song to radio. I'll never understand why they did such a thing tbh. The song was still a smash. :katie2:

This song is cute and okay, but I wish he released something stronger to follow Despacito. This killed his momentum, and it was justified.

No. It was never sent to US pop radio. It received airplay but it was never sent.

As for the UK, it was sent to radio A YEAR LATER with a full English remix.

This was such a smash in my country, heard it a lot.

Luis Fonsi was so hot, and I think he still is, there's something about those arms...
