Calm Down! Another top 10 for Selena :clap3:

Why isnt she credited

Posted

over 70% of calm down performance is the Selena Version. This is so stupid, this top 10 is hers too. Whether they credit it or not, chartdata is posting as hers. Ukcharts himself congratulated her last week for the top 20. They are crazy

if megan is smashing, maybe there is hope for Carly Rae Legend :smitten:

Good for Meghan. Hope it serves longevity. It's such a smasher of a song. :clap3:

Isn’t this the 3rd week for anti hero, not 4th?

This is common practice from them. I know Taylor wasn’t credited on TJATQ either on their official charts :rip:

But it’s very stupid though. Doesn’t make any sense why they just refuse to update stuff to reflect the most popular version lol

I'm far from being a chart expert but, yes, Unholy is the only threat to AH at least until Xmas and unless some big artist releases something which is unlikely. Also there's the UK chart rule in which a song gets its streams cut in half after charting for 10 weeks and Unholy is at 7 weeks. AH may still hold the #1 for a few more weeks in January.

I knew about ACR and unfortunately AH will probably not manage to escape it, since the 10th week falls during Christmas week, and songs naturally decrease in consumption/sales that week all around the globe. I think the only way you can avoid it is if your song increases in sales that week, which is rare. And then every (3?) weeks after, if it increases it can still manage to escape it. Like I know a few smashes ala Blinding Lights and As It Was managed but it’s rare. Oh well.
But if she somehow managed to sneak 7+ weeks at #1 after her UK singles chart history, that would be INSANE :jonny:

Because of the stupid UK charts rule that state that the credit goes to the original track when remixes are released. Or something like that, I don’t remember

Yeah, BPI has always done that. It seems to be a stupid rule.

Demi is not credited for Somebody To You even though it's her version that one that went top 5 lol. They never credit artists featured in remixes. Beyonce isn't credited for Perfect either. So they won't credit Selena, sadly.

It's weird she's not credited in the official chart site though. Demi and Beyonce are credited for their remixes.

Right. Like I would understand them not crediting Selena if the remix came out after the original was making waves in the UK but the thing is the version actually doing something is the remix, so that would technically make it the original lol. 80% of the sales and streams are all from the remix so I just don’t get it. Hope they get their **** together

This is the mid-week chart for the 4th week, anti-hero is already 3x #1 on the official chart

The 50% < rule doesn’t apply to the UK charts. They have a rule that the remix has to be released as a standalone single rather than simply just another version of the original for the remix artist to be credited. This is why as another user pointed out Beyoncé was not credited for Perfect in the UK despite chart points for the remix alone enough to secure it for #1 but Justin Bieber is credited for Despacito. Selena will not be credited for the song in the UK or Ireland.

That’s such a dumb rule to be honest. At least in this situation, since Perfect was already big in the UK before the remix. This time the song the country is getting behind is the remix. And what makes the Bieber remix different? That it is not labeled a remix?

What rule is this?

The label also has to petition OCC for new remix credits and most just don’t see the value in that.
