I was going to say the numbers are fine all things considered, but I didn’t know it was top 5 on TTH. Bad numbers  

 

LMU showed there was interest but she squandered it. And it’s way too early to say how this will reflect on her lead single, if there ever is one. We can see from various examples in the past that soundtrack singles are sometimes reliable in predicting the artists’ next endeavor (Rise -> Witness), and sometimes not (Carolina -> Midnights, A Star Is Born -> Chromatica). These numbers being bad won’t matter if her album smashes, so it’s best to wait to pass judgement.

It's not "excuses", it's the truth. Carolina only had part of the fanbase streaming (cuz many fans don't care for soundtracks). It never received the push these Rihanna songs are getting.

This isn't true and it's not an excuse. I like Rihanna but I haven't heard either song yet because I don't care if it's not an actual song from her. Fewer people care about soundtrack songs. Outside of some exceptions, that's how it's always been.
