This is a half true post and fearmongering. I'm a Pole living in Poland and the government is only checking basements in blocks which were built as shelters during cold war. Those aren't normal basements and normal basements weren't checked. Iodine is only given to firefighters, regular people are discouraged from getting it themselves.
