Yup.. Twitter's influence is clearer than ever here

It's the Internet in general. Anonymity brings out the worst in people. Also, stan Twitter is objectively worse than ATRL if I'm being honest.

Yes and it's a reflection of our uncertain times if you ask me. The internet is a constant feed of the worst takes and most alarming news, endlessly amplified by algorithms programed to utilize negative stimuli as a fast track to maximum engagement. We feel increasingly threatened and seek out other people and groups to insulate ourselves against opposing factions, and are more likely than ever to see those on the other side not as people but as inhuman agents of evil. 

Stan culture, with its built-in tribalism, was always going to be susceptible to this mode of thinking. It was only a matter of time before it slithered onto this forum.

I think the stan culture aspect of this site is toxic but I think a lot of people post in self amusing way to kill time and play up their replies and aren’t serious in a lot of discussions.
