#Beautiful Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 signed cd and cassette bundle has shipped, wig the album is beautiful but feels unusually short for her and i cant find the two bonus songs anywhere. welp of course shes gonna sing about her ex, id be bitter about it for the rest of my life if i were her now felt stronger maybe thanks to the number of tracks but more songs are supposed to come out for queen of me as well so...
americanlife Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Pretty Liar is sooooo good. Inhale/Exhale AIR sounds so early 2000s too. Enjoying this album.
Frozen99 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 waking up dreaming sounds the most as her old days pretty liar is a bop with an almost dreamy production, reminds me of Marry You by Mars, i wanna sing oh-oh-oh's during the chorus inhale / exhale gave me goosebumps, what a beautiful, melancholic melody queen of me is ok, don't see the greatness y'all see got it good is boring, sounds like a bad now (deluxe) track number 1 has an interesting production, finally sth a bit different not just a girl still a great song the hardest stone oh the trippy beats almost give Erotica vibes, i love it, the most interesting track, the La-da-da post-chorus mesmerizing outro, an electric ocean 8/10 can't wait for the deluxe, i'm craving more inhale/exhale, the hardest stone & pretty liar the trinity brand new, best friend & got it good the bottoms 21 hours ago, Schami66 said: the autotune during Brand New... especially during the chorus. she sounds like a robot it sounds like a perry song from prism or sth, tragic

Scandalous Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 OK album…a lot of it sounds very 2013 instead of 2023 have been really excited for this after seeing her confirm a more pop direction at the end of her documentary but this isn’t quite what i was expecting i guess. lemme let it grow on me a bit
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted February 3, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted February 3, 2023 Oddly enough the only songs I truly cannot connect with are the Target ones, but overall really vibing
xXavril Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Finally got the chance to listen to this a couple of times! My complaints about this album are similar to Now, and that is there isn't a direction to this album. You can tell she was working with multiple producers and the songs don't flow very well with each other. Woman In Me to Up! all having only one producer really helped keep it together. Songs that don't really fit together on an album (like It Only Hurts When I Breath and Ka-Ching) work because at the core it's the same producer. Queen Of Me feels very diverse with nothing really holding it together, same as Now. I know a lot of people get crapped on for saying this, but as a literal lifelong fan, it is sad to see how her voice has diminished (and that's nothing against her at all, I know the circumstances surrounding it and I'm glad she's still doing what she loves) BUT, this album did a way better job than Now in regards to vocal production. I think the more whispery vocals really help make it feel new/fresh, and I don't think she was trying as hard this time to try and have the vocal delivery of past. The producers of this album did an exceptional job I feel of implementing background vocals. It was a very short album for her standards, but she keeps getting better and more confident in her delivery, which I think is the most important thing. The album overall is fun and has many wonderful melody moments. I really think the songs (and the album overall) feel very more Shania than Now did. It's a sold 7/10, might go up to 7.5/8 after more listens. On day one, I definitely like this one a lot more than Now. Top 3: Pretty Liar (Love that F bomb, I expected a S--- or D--- I was shocked) Number One Got It Good Edited February 3, 2023 by xXavril
Winged Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I love Done and Dusted I hope that deluxe rumour will be true and all of those song will be there
allforyou Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I've had Pretty Liar on repeat all afternoon They should be pushing that instead of Best Friend
gagacasanova Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) This album, while I love Now, is a definite upgrade. I was SHOOKETH when she dropped the F bomb. So far my top 5 (in no order besides the first one): Giddy Up, Inhale/Exhale Air, Number One, The Hardest Stone and Pretty Liar What I do know is, Best Friend is my least favorite. She's decent, but not fantastic. Edited February 3, 2023 by gagacasanova
BradySpears Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Surprised at the amount of people on ATRL that enjoy the album. That pitchfork article was spot on. It’s a huge letdown in my opinion with no cohesion. And lyrically this is easily her most boring album? It’s the first Shania album that doesn’t seem like a Shania album, just hints of her here and there. Most of these songs could be sung by anyone else, and who is that singing on the chorus of Inhale/Exhale Air? Giddy Up, Waking Up Dreaming and Got It Good are the only standouts for me. A few other songs like Brand New Me and Number one are cute, but fall short. I wish she would have done a dual album with 6-10 pop/dance songs and 6-10 country. At least this album made me appreciate Now more Edited February 3, 2023 by BradySpears
despy Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 you know what... i'm absolutely loving this album she did that
family.guy123 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Pretty liar sounds like marry you by Bruno mars
nadiamendell Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Favorite songs on this album seem to vary WIDELY among everyone.
