The Billboard Japan Hot 100 is a record chart in Japan for songs. It has been compiled by Billboard Japan and Hanshin Contents Link since February 2008.

Here's the list of Western artists who have number-one singles on Japan Hot 100.

2008 - Leona Lewis - "Bleeding Love" (one week)

2011 - Lady Gaga - "Born This Way" (one week)

2013 - The Wanted - "Glad You Came" (one week)

P.S.

2011 - Avril Lavigne - "What the Hell (#2 for three weeks)

2012 - Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call Me Maybe"(#2 for five weeks)

Glad You Came? :clap3:

I'm so surprised but oof, go The Wanted! I love this song, so happy for them.

Bleeding Love is an insane classic, Leona deserved so much. I seriously hope that song gets a Tik Tok revival somehow, I still love it now.

Born This Way I'm not really too fond of but I know it was huge back in the day. Good for Gaga.

The Wanted has British members actually, so not quite.

The only Brit MPG I meant, as most threads here are about MPGs :deadbanana2:

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" also peaked at #2 (mysteriously missing from your p.s. list), and is one of the longest charting and biggest Western singles of all time in Japan. :gaycat4:

I was confused as to why they omitted it :rip:

Wow. It’s a great achievement get a #1 single there. Not everyone has that!

This chart started only in 2008, so that explains the absence of Avril in the #1 list. She must have scored quite a number of hits in the early 00s.

Honestly surprised at GYC grabbing that #1. I did not expect them to be that big in Japan or in non-English-speaking Asia.
