Xbox Series least selling console even with a 300$ model and Gamepass for free. Why?

So now that supply for all consoles is starting to get back to normal for PS5 we can finally see the actual demand it has.

For another month, PS5 was the best selling console in the USA both in units and dollars sales.

Units sold:

#1 PS5

#2 Switch

#3 Sales for BOTH Series X and S together

Switch was the 2nd best selling one. This is a 6 year old console that's outselling a Microsoft console that came out not even 2 years ago. One of those models (Series S) you can literally find at any store, it's being sold for 300$ and sometimes as little as 270$ and many of those packs include a 3 month Gamepass voucher at no extra charge. That's literally hundreds of games for "free" to play, many of them you need to pay full price with Playstation or Switch. :deadbanana4: Meaning that even on Xbox's home country and the place it usually can be competitive...both Japanese consoles, while much more expensive are the ones people are buying.

Meanwhile PS5 had its price increased in plenty of countries outside America, its games cost 70$ or 80€ EACH...and the hardware is basically twice as expensive as a Series S...the cheapest entry point that MS is offering right now and the PS5 is also outselling it by a large margin. Just this past week in Spain, PS5 sold close to 6k and Series S and X sold a bit over 1k. In Japan, PS5 sold close to 20k this past week and Series S and X around 2k together.

What can MS actually do to have a console that's not in last place in sales at this point? :deadbanana4:

Ugly UI (is it even 4K native yet?), cluttered ads everywhere, false promises.

First party lineup is non-existent and it's been 2 years since its release. Series S/X were non-events in the tech world, like I'd rather have a PC which is like the same exact thing but better + more functionality. :rip:

nobody cares about Xbox anymore. PlayStation beat them so bad last Gen ?

I think the consumer target for the Xbox is the same people who would buy a gaming pc and honestly they're better off with the later. The gamepass is great but why would you buy a Xbox when you can use the gamepass on pc? Also, Xbox exclusives are awful and you have much better games on pc, including some previously Playstation exclusives.

Playstation and Nintendo still sell because of their exclusives, and that's a fact. Both companies put so much effort in releasing top notch exclusive content while Xbox always come up with the most generic **** ever.

They have bad exclusives as of now. Their biggest selling exclusive series is Halo which didn't even do that well. That's why Microsoft is acquiring so many studios (Activision Blizzard, Bethesda) in order to completely own the market.

When enough time passes, Call of Duty and other big names will become Xbox exclusive which will severely gimp Playstation. But I feel it's kinda pointless because the people who would buy a Series X|S are PC gamers? They should just focus on Game Pass being massive.

And yet, one is making $70 billion dollar investments and creating the best ecosystem for gaming.

The other one is releasing $70 remakes and afraid of going out of business if Call of Duty goes exclusive :redface:

So who really won in the end?

You clearly didn't, 'cause you were so worried about gamepass getting expensive. How the tables have turned.... :bibliahh:

By investments you mean buying a huge ass publisher because they can't create a decent IP to save their business?

And they may get Activision (still not official) but that doesn't mean everyone is leaving Playstation when MS themselves have said they would treat COD as they treat Minecraft, lol.

PS5 gots God of War and Switch has Pokémon, Bayonetta, and Mario + Rabbids all coming out soon. Xbox has nothing coming out.

I bought an Xbox early this year in hopes of Fable but it’s just collecting dust. Wish I saved that money for a Steam Deck or PS5 instead.

No Luigi’s Mansion no sales

Gaming laptops and PCs are sleeker and more affordable now, and most Xbox (and many Playstation games, if we're being real) head to Steam. Playstation has the edge in terms of first party and third party titles. For now, anyway, until MS keeps reducing competition, which will eventually just help Nintendo rather than either MS or Sony.

bye!

Capcom, Konami, FromSoftware, Tecmo, Namco, Sega, Ubisoft, and Square Enix have the closest relationship with Sony, basically being a first party but masking it as a third party developer.

If anyone gets surprised then they should get a reality check, did people honestly think buying Activision will be detrimental to PS, how about their sales is built on PS consumers and that’s why they don’t want to lose them.

Japanese excellence :clap3:

MS has the PC gaming market, they should honestly treat the Xbox like a PC.

Xshit was only briefly popular in the 2000s when they had superior online. In 2022, it's irrelevant.

I genuinely can’t name a single xbox franchise outside of halo. I literally have no idea what they’ve been doing for the last 15 years. How are they supposed to compete with the joint slay of splatoon 3 and god of war? They’re literally buying call of duty and the elder scrolls because they can’t compete in any way other then money. They pivoted to game pass because their consoles have all bombed outside of the 360. Sad!

You mean like how Sony just bought the developer (which is also a publisher) of the original Halo because they can't create multiplayer games? :rip: You know, that franchise you hate(d)? :dies:

Let's also not forget the very first thing Sony did to get into gaming was.... buying a publisher in the 90s and basically suffocate all of its competitors :psyduck:

Xbox was actually created by an internal team at Microsoft, the guys who made DirectX (that's where the name comes from). Which is very difficult to get, not everybody has that. And they're definitely good at it, considering Xbox Series X has been consistently outperforming PS5 on 90% of the games nowadays, while not being gigantic or ugly.

Something that not everybody has is also a 40 year old franchise called Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is highly praised and older than anything Sony has ever done in gaming. But "they can't create decent IP" :dies: I'm sure you don't wanna remember that game, considering its last entry (2021) has higher metacritic than anything released by Sony since then :psyduck:

dude give up xFLOP is the biggest embarrassment of a home ''console'' ever and literally NO ONE cares for it and hadn't been checking it out since 360, they have literally done nothing when it comes to actual games in last 2 generations outside of introducing gamepass, like the fact that you are trying to debate that it's in any way shape or form more relevant that ******* Sony or Nintendo in 2022 is literally embarrassing actually and you probably know it yourself as well:ahh:

Speaking about Halo...did you know MS didn't create the IP and they simply bought it and snatched it from Bungie back in 1999? The game was actually presented at an Apple conference first :ahh:

Even Halo wasn't created by MS dude :deadbanana4:

What Multiplayer games can MS create? Halo Infinite is a flop and no one cares for it anymore. Destiny 2 is actually more played by quite a huge margin. The only IP that MS hasn't killed is Forza. Gears of War? Dead. Rare studio? Was dead for 20 years and managed a mid-successful IP with Sea of Thieves recently. One IP in 20 years.

The publisher Sony bought in the 90's...do you mean the British one that kept releasing multiplatform games and didn't really create a single decent IP besides Wipeout for Playstation, to the point Sony closed the studio? :deadbanana4: No one was suffocated, lmao what is this post?

You do realize MS buying Sega and specially Sony buying Capcom and /or Square-Enix are possibilities right? Sony has even bought 14% of FromSoftware by now. IP's such as Monster Hunter and the countless RPGs that Square-Enix has would stop coming out on Nintendo platforms. These acquisitions aren't good for Nintendo in any way. MS started this with Bethesda and for what? The only reason why Sony is quiet this year is due to the fact the Activision deal is under fire...and they won't be buying anything else for now cause it could help Xbox's case. Sony still has at least $14b to spend on acquisitions until March 2024. That's enough for Square-Enix and Capcom together. Just saying. This week alone Capcom did a conference and Sony itself played it live on their Youtube channel like it was their own. Square-Enix keeps announcing Playstation exclusive deals like there's no tomorrow. Forspoken, Final Fantasy XVI, the second game of the FFVII Remake. This is terrible for gamers and i play on PlayStation.

And Gamepass has been a thing for over half a decade and it's on consoles and PC and it's like...at half the PSPlus numbers :deadbanana4: A subscription you can play anywhere doing half the numbers f ony's subscription that you can play ona  console only is bad as hell.

Xbox fanboys are going to save their coins for a glow-in-the-dark gaming PC. Microsoft has done genuinely good job making Windows a solid gaming platform on its own that the Xbox as a platform has been cannabilized. Nintendo and Sony survive and thrive because of their strong 1st party exclusive content.
