modeblock Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Wii was THAT girl, but Switch devoured her with the portability and upgraded tech.
elevate Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Switch should probably not be as big as it is given its competition. The market is saturated with kids who buy PS / Xbox for Fortnite. People actually buy Nintendo for Nintendo games. At a time when streaming and apps like Tiktok have taken attention even away from gaming. That said, Wii was fantastic despite all the casualware.
Hephaestus Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Wii feels bigger, but Switch is actually bigger and better
Ewan Chaos Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I think the Wii was more... iconic, with how often it was referenced in media and how insane trying to get one for the holidays the year it came out. But numbers show the Switch is bigger (which makes sense, I think it had a huge spike during the pandemic, 3 years after launch, and has been pretty stable with sales) and I'd probably say it's better too. Lots of fun games and memories associated with the Wii, but the Switch has sooooo many amazing games and great ports that wouldn't have come to any Nintendo consoles pre-Switch. And the Switch STILL has fantastic games coming out even this late in its run.
Itz_Dani! Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 I love both. I know Switch is bigger and for the current times has better features and things. But going by nostalgia bias and growing up during that time, theres nothing like having owned a Wii. So many great times and memories from childhood playing Wii with friends and family, a cousin of mine accidentally breaking out grandmas TV because her nunchuck wasn’t strapped to her hand and she threw it toward the tv , the best version of Super Mario Bros so far, the 2nd best Mario Kart version, that Mario baseball game that was so underrated, iconic
Kamil24 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Wii feels much bigger to me. Maybe because I was a teenager when it first came out and it was a pretty new/different system than anything before. It was just everywhere and very hyped up. Whereas for Switch I was older and I only first heard of it a while after it came out. I've never owned either of them though.
