Truly one of the monumental albums of my teenage life. I told my dad it was my friend’s birthday and could I get her a gift. He said yes so we went to Borders and I got Stripped. It wasn’t my friend’s birthday. It was for me.

Beautiful was released during radio era, were physical singles were almost completely gone.

5x platinum is fine for a sophomore album released in late 2002 and for which peaked in 2003. Its overall success was definitely more global but it still did very well in the United States. 

 

As a matter of fact, its pure sales aren’t exceptionally far from “Dangerously In Love” in the U.S (4.8M vs 5.4M - although “DIL” has much higher SPS of course) as well as “Britney” (5.2M - but that was Spears’ third studio album, not second). 
 

“Stripped” only sold 4.5M or so less than her ”CA” which is good. Some artists sell more with their second album/era, some stay on par and others sell less but still do well.
