Why did We Belong Together outstream Hung Up?

Recommended Posts

Spotify streams:

WBT = 406m

Hung up = 275m

Both songs were the biggest hits of their 2000s eras. Madge stans keep claiming that Hung Up was more global and bigger so why does it have less streams? Did it simply age like milk despite sampling a classic?

I didn’t check other platforms but im pretty sure WBT clears.

I didn't know one hit not having as many streams as another hit automatically means it is no longer a hit :deadbanana2:

I'm pretty sure the song sold more than Mariah's anyways

I heard from ATRLers that they heard hung up frequently in gay clubs somewhere in Europe.

where did they say that at all? all OP stated was that WBT has more streams

OT: its the bigger song. even as a M stan i never knew Hung Up until discovering her discography, meanwhile WBT is a certified classic

WBT is an actual classic and is remembered (at least in the US).

:heart2:

I haven’t heard Hung Up in years, even at the white gay clubs. :coffee2:

Can you name the 4 because I haven’t heard any Madonna songs in a while.

WBT is the superior song and rnb music tends to age better (and are better songs in general).

Sorry I couldn’t find those worldwide hits that are getting a lot of streams. Can you please tell me? I’m genuinely curious.

Because it's an actually good song and was a real hit. And its best parts weren't ripped from another artist's bigger and more-remembered classic. :gayriahcat2:

Hung Up alway had an 80/20 chance to age bad/struggle to transition to streaming it’s dance. Whilst M’s fans bump the ‘Katy and Gaga cross 1bn streams in US’ thread  they should remember why, or more importanly how  Gaga and Madonna captured the demographics they did  with the music they did and how that might effect streaming against their peers songs
