tili33 Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 or sweep...? Adele with her worst album? (Metacritic is pointless, y'all have ears, its just not that good or memorable...) Taylor (who'll just look greedy, taking it with an album we already heard 10 years ago) Harry Ed Sheran Kendrick Lizzo ABBA Arcade Fire Brandi Carlile Bad Bunny? Drake ... someone else?
Joyride Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Harry Ed Sheran Kendrick Lizzo ABBA Arcade Fire Brandi Carlile Bad Bunny Drake yes.
Venice B Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Harry for sure, he's going through an awful phase right now everyone seems to have something against him

Cruel Summer Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I’m like 100% certain we’d never hear the end of it if Taylor won this year. It’s a shame, because Red deserves the win more than anything else that’s likely to make the nominations list.
Ewan Chaos Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I mean, Taylor and rightfully so if she even gets nominated nn Adele and Harry would probably be close seconds given people already have the narrative of 30 being a flop and her last album not deserving the win over Lemonade, and then Harry who's kind of a punching bag online at the moment.
Obsession Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Taylor, Harry, Adele or Ed - all for different reasons. Although as much as I dislike Harry and I think his album is boring, there's no reason why he shouldn't win other than there being are potentially better winners. Same goes for Adele really, although I really like 30 and I wouldn't be angry if she did win.
Lipgloss Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Adele or Taylor better not win it over Beyoncé
Happylittlepunk Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Anyone who isn’t Beyoncé cause we know how the hive are. It’s exhausting.
VOSS Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Taylor for sure. Is she submitting though/is she even eligible?

Pretty much this. Couldn't have put it better myself. For the OEHs out there: Ed Sheeran is barely expected to get a nomination, and even then he'd be pure filler. Same for Coldplay (whose victory would lead to a similar backlash in my view). Drake's team refused to confirm whether they submitted, but I don't think he'd have a shot either way, especially with how this album came and went. Beyond Taylor, Harry, and Adele (in that order), I'd say Arcade Fire winning would also lead to backlash given the sexual misconduct allegations against co-founder Win Butler. I could see the album getting nominated thanks to the alphabetical advantage, but winning seems unlikely, considering its reception was rather lukewarm and uneventful.
Jynx Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Lizzo. She'll be lambasted to the ends of the earth.
HeavyMetalAura Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) I’d say Adele or Taylor. Which is a shame, because I really think 30 is Adele’s best album (which is only an unpopular opinion on ATRL - sure, it didn’t do as well as her last album, but that was like 6 years ago and Adele is not a Gen Z girl). I mean come on. I Drink Wine, To Be Loved, Love is a Game… most artists are lucky enough to have 3 songs like that in their entire careers, let alone on one album. I’ll be rooting for her, but I highly doubt she’ll win. Edited October 13, 2022 by HeavyMetalAura
rebeltwat Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 As much as I love seeing Taylor win, Red TV doesn't even deserve a nomination. It had its moment 10 years ago and ATW10 + the new songs doesn't merit anything more than that.
Mobility Mary Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Idk, but Björk should be the one to get it
Selegend Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) Taylor shouldn't even be nominated, if she wins all the backlash would be deserved and i love Red. But i don't think she will be nominated, so among the probable nominees if wins Harry would get the most backlash without a doubt... Edited October 13, 2022 by Selegend

kellysclarkson Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 If taylor won AGAIN (not that it's possible)

HeavyMetalAura Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 5 minutes ago, QueenofCopyPaste said: Adele is the clear front runner. True, but there are a few reasons I don't think she'll win. Firstly, it would be her third AOTY since releasing just as many albums and would indicate a clear bias. Secondly, she's gotten a lot of bad press with Vegas and hasn't been able to make up for it by achieving even a second hit single from the album. Thirdly, the last time she won, there were widespread accusations of racism and awarding "white mediocrity" from people who thought Lemonade should have won - a sentiment Adele herself somewhat echoed in her acceptance speech. Whether the votes were racially motivated is neither here nor there - we'll never why those voters voted the way the did - and whether or not 25 was a product of "white mediocrity" is purely subjective based on whether or not a listener thinks 25 is mediocre despite its success. Regardless, the conversations were happening last time, and once again she's up against Bey. I hope you're right, because I really think 30 deserves it, but I don't see it happening.
