Sam managing to always smash after flops is actually really impressive, on top of that even more amazing that he does it with a complete sound and image change, like imagine Adele going Pop/Trap let alone actually smashing with it? I keep telling y’all this since 2017..

 

Too Good At Goodbyes, Promises, How Do You Sleep?, Dancing With A Stranger are all hit smashes between some underperforming singles here & there, Sam is pretty consistent since post ITLH, not to mention their successful album units

their first two commercial released songs were as dance records (Latch and La La La) and since then have made straight forward uptempo pop songs (How Do You Sleep & Dancing with a Stranger) and smashed hard everywhere except the US with a House collab (Promises).
